Monday 23rd March 2009, 4:57PM GMT.
A man killed on a railway level crossing in Staffordshire was named today as Stuart Turner from Lichfield.
Mr Turner, aged 22, from Blackthorne Road, in the Boley Park area of the city, is thought to have died after being hit by a train travelling at more than 100mph at a level crossing at Station Road, in Barlaston near Stoke-on-Trent on Friday night.
He was struck shortly after 8pm by the 6.20pm London to Manchester Piccadilly service.
Officers said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
Friends of Mr Turner, a former pupil at Nether Stowe High School, on St Chad’s Road, have paid tribute to him via the social networking site Facebook.
Jackie Taylor said: “I still can’t believe this has happened Why you? We had so many laughs, it wont be the same without you. You were such a kind hearted person and would do anything to help anyone.”
