Jarvis hopes to make Hillsborough trip

Thursday 5th March 2009, 11:55AM GMT.

BURNLEY V WOLVES 21 GD 14Wolves winger Matt Jarvis is hoping to be fit for Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday – after spending two days in hospital.

Jarvis, who has also been battling a knee injury, has missed the last two games with an infected blister on his foot, sustained in the 2-2 draw against Cardiff.

He said:  “After the game the inection went straight into my bloodstream, which can happen because after a match you’re run down.

“I came in on the Monday for treatment on my knee as well and started to feel a little unwell. I got antibiotics for that and some stuff to clean out the blister, but when I came in the next day I was bright red!

“I’d had an allergic reaction to something and on Tuesday night at home I was just radiating – I was bright red, had goose pimples, was shivering and my face was starting to swell up.

“I phoned the doc who came and picked me up. We went straight to hospital.

“I went straight onto a drip, spent Tuesday night in there and actually didn’t come out until Thursday night. I feel fine now though.”

Midfielder Dave Jones is hoping to be in contention for the trip to Hillsborough after a patella tendon injury.

Jones is progressing well and is vying with Nigel Quashie to replace the suspended captain Karl Henry, who starts a two-match ban.

Keep Jarvis on the bench for this one and keep the young George Friend in at left wing.

I would drop bring back David Jones into Midfield but think we might need a bit of bite in there this Saturday so Quashie is more than likely going to be the choice.

If Iwelumo is fit keep him in, if not its got to be Vokes to start alongside Blake, we need a bit of presence away from home and Keogh just doesn’t give us that.

    5) I don’t agree with Hill at left back for the season. He did a job the other night – although he hoofed it a few times – but was poor in either the Bristol City or Blackpool game. I would much prefer to see Friend there. He was quality on Tuesday and at Blues!
If we did this, providing he is fully fit, then Jarvis could go back on the left. Jones please in the centre, if he is back up and running or otherwise Gleeson.
This will be a tough game, especially with our ex-players likely to feature. We need to battle it out and any win will do.

4-3-3! Edwards, Quashie & Jones in midfield! Jarvis (if fit), Ebanks and Kites up front. Why can’t we ever change the system to accomodate the best players available? Another predicatble 4-4-2 for sat no doubt, and we wonder why teams have sussed us out! I’d rather have Friend at left back not left midfield, that’s why Mick bought him. Another must win!

9 – How can you say Hill is hopeless?! He has already helped keep a handful of clean sheets in the few games he’s played and looks steady. Ward has now proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he is not a left back (remember Coventry away, or Nathan Dyer causing him to get subbed at home to Sheff Utd?) How about we give him a chance?

The South Yorkshire Star printed that Potter was ineligible to play on saturday! Which is nice as I think he has played every match at Wednesday since arriving! As much as I respect Michael Gray I think we should be capable of keeping him and Leon Clarke quiet – Tudgay is the one to watch – I think Tuesday at Palace was the way to go for saturday with Keough saved for the last 10 to run them around and keep them busy!! Unless of course we are winning 4-1 like at Mol but I might just be dreaming…wake me up in the prem somebody!

It looks like we are not going to the get quality stiker in via the loan market that I think would to make the difference between promotion or failure.Years ago when the Doog retired they used to refer to John Richards as the Loan Ranger since he was only one likely to score. It is getting that way with SEB.We need somone else to help carry the load.If we do fail it will be lack of ambition at the top.Best of luck to Mick and the boys on Saturday.

I recon it will be Quashie to come in for the suspended Henry, to partner Edwards in the middle, seein’ as though Quashie any ever makes the Line up when were Away. I’d rather see Jones come in but he is “Injured” which I seriously doubt he is. Quashie might look a decent player on Saturday as he will be playin’ with someone who is a different type of midfielder player to Henry.
Hopefully we can keep Leon Clarke quiet as he has been in some decent form past few games.
It made me wonder the other day we sold Clarke 2 years ago and his replacements Keogh and Ward can’t hit a barn door, now I wanted Clarke to be gone aswel like most other fans but seein’ as though Keogh/Ward cost around 1 million combinded fees we may aswel of kept Clarke who went for alot less and scores more then those pair together 8 in 17 starts Keogh 3 in 17 starts.

Some total clowns on here again. Ward has done an excellent job this season and left back is not his position but it is time for a rest. As for Hill, from what I have seen so far he is nowhere near good enough. This therefore means that Friend is the obvious choice, as our other good youngster Jones – who impressed on Monday – is likely never to get a chance.

I am not having a dig at SEB but it is not hard to work out from the stats that you have provided that there have been barren patches. I am not talking about not scoring for 10 games but there have been times like 1 in 5. Remember he has scored a hat-trick and probably 3 doubles – so there is 9 in 4 games. If I were manager (and on here we all are aren’t we?)the advice I give to my team if they are not quite firing on all four is to do what Spurs are doing for Harry, namely up the work rate another 15%. Teams like Man Ure have been rattled this season by teams who “get at them” from the word go. We have done this a few times this season for 10-20 minutes and then taken our foot off the gas and disappointed many. Wolves fans will applaud a team giving their all regardless of the result, and conversly they will get on the backs of a non-trying outfit. I feel if you work hard, then harder, good things will come. A good solid tackle, a chase down of a seemingly lost cause, a good save will all inspire the team. Inspiration breeds confidence and as confidence grows the skill level improves as players are not afraid to be creative and try something unusual. Results improve, crowd happy, team happy and many fans go to work on a Monday for a change, productivity improves, country comes out of recession, England become World Power again, wins World Cup,puts manned space craft on Moon, removes tax on beer and gets rid of the mole in my lawn. All that from one good solid, awe inspiring slide tackle!
