I can be the new Bully – Sylvan

Saturday 28th February 2009, 12:02PM GMT.

SOCCER Wolves 6Wolves hot-shot Sylvan Ebanks-Blake wants to emulate Steve Bull – and compete “with or against” Premier League stars Jermain Defoe, Fernando Torres and Wayne Rooney.

Ebanks-Blake currently has a better scoring ratio than Bull, after hitting 33 goals in his first 53 League games. That’s one better than the record Molineux goal machine.

The former Plymouth striker knows he has an awful long way to go before he can be considered in the same breath as the fans’ hero.

But he has his own lofty ambitions that include competing alongside or against the cream of the Premier League.

He said: “I’d like to play as many games as Bully and score as many goals for the club, but who knows?”

“Football’s a funny game and it changes very quickly.I do try to watch the strikers in the big games because they’re a little bit smarter. Jermain Defoe’s a good player who’s been in the Premier League for a long time.

“He’s grown massively, but there’s no end of strikers who you can watch – Fernando Torres, Wayne Rooney – others who are growing all the time.

“They all score goals and it doesn’t just happen through luck – it’s from learning and getting better each season. They’re players I look up to and players I want to be playing with or against at some point.”

Ebanks-Blake continues to be linked with Everton and Wigan, but insists he’s happy at Molineux.

He said: “I’m happy here – it’s just paper talk. I can’t control what people write about me.

“If we’re talking about bids, then I might have something to comment on but we’re talking about speculation and it’s just part of football.

“When you’re doing well, it’s nice to hear that people are monitoring your progress, but my focus is on Wolves.”

Yeah, Bully did have a slow start. I hope you get 100 goals in your next two seasons Sylvan to keep up the pace with him…then get in to a very good England team. Oh and run your wotsits off every game and terrorise defenders and chase down goalkeepers to within an inch of their lives.

That said, SEB’s been a cracking signing.

To be a Bully you would have to show something so rare in today’s world Loyalty. In the event of the unthinkable happening Wolves failing to achieve Promotion,Then we will find out whether or not you will show the same committment as Steve did.

Wolverhampton Wanderers news from the good ole US of A. Seriously though, to the rumour. There is a large likelihood Wolverhampton will have new owners, a small eastern european consortium, as early as the 09/10 season. How do i know this? well, this is where you can choose to believe it or not; my ex girlfriend who is from eastern europe who i keep in close contact with still has told me her father, who is a very wealthy man who already owns the largest club in his homeland (your hint is the country borders italy) has been scoping out an english club to purchase. I’ve been kept up over the past year or so and the club that he’s chosen is Wolverhampton, in attempts to maintain their hypothetical premier league survival and to provide an easier way for youngsters from his country to climb the tiers up towards english football. The money is there, it’s just a matter of seeing what will transpire. again, no reason to lie as Im a die–hard newcastle fan and the only thing that concerns me with wolverhampton is hoping Kightly comes and plays for us! Just saw this on the web wonder what to make of this?

No.2, I couldn’t agree more. Our players need to let their feet do the talking on the pitch. The team that got promoted had learned that the hard way after their comments helped to motivate Norwich in the previous year’s play-off semi-final. As I recall, they refused to talk to the media before the final and destroyed Sheffield United in the first-half of the final. I have never seen fans crying at half-time (like the United fans did) before or since!

The Express & Star don’t help, as they seem to think they have to fill a minimum number of pages, whether or not there is anything worth reporting.

Perhaps, though, the blame lies with people like me who bother to read these articles and respond to them!!! The E & S then think it is worth continuing to chase players for comments!

I think determination and setting a goal both personally and for the fans is an aspiration to admire. If he shows the loyalty of Bully too, well, there’s no reason why he can’t become a future Wolves legend. I hope everyone at the club looks at Bully and has in their heart a desire to emulate his success and deserved hero worship status. I’d prefer that desire in the hearts of all Wolves players rather than them “putting a shift in”.

I think you’ve got a great chance of being better than Bully. Your control of the ball seems to have improved a lot during this season which may have let you down at times in the past and you seem to really enjoy playing football, learning all the time at the Wolves. Here’s to a great finish to the season, another golden boot and dare I suggest it a Wolves promotion?

Bully was a one off never to be repeated. Blake will move on at some point, if he fulfills his potential he’ll want proper international status and champions league football. For me, he needs to lose some of his timber and be more involved in games. A very good player, could be world class but time will tell.

    The Usual Suspects

Bully is now well established in the Wolves history books as a legend – a true example of the never say die – Roy of the Rovers (Or in this case Wanderers)

SEB is doing well but a tad premature to be classed as a Wolves legend yet

Bully on the other hand showed his loyalty and class – turning down chances to show his worth in the greed league

In my view and quite a few other fans – the club should shut down the constant articles in the press from players and even the manager – as it will not do anyone any good

MM should use all of his focus on the job at hand and not on the small minority of fans that are upsetting his ego/ and the players egos

The media articles and pointless replies from MM and Co are doing nothing but taking their focus away from doing their jobs – They (MM & Co) are actually expanding energy and time on a very pointless exercise by reacting to a very small minority

This in turn causes the little dears to do anything other than their jobs

Stop pampering the players MM – Show some steel and backbone – Discipline is the thing that makes the military not panic when they are getting shot at – (they dont have the luxury of their commanding officer to protect their ego’s)

PS A jolly to Spain aint gonna change things either MM – Try a Royal Marines training camp and give the poodles some real training!
