Sylvan won’t celebrate a goal

ebanksblake.jpgWolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake won’t celebrate if he scores against Plymouth – out of respect for the club who gave him his big break.

The Championship’s 21-goal top scorer normally celebrates his goals with the Molineux crowd who sing his signature tune – KC and the Sunshine Band’s ‘Give It Up.’

But the 22-year-old, who has been a revelation since his £1.5million move to Wolves from Argyle 13 months ago, insists if he notches against Argyle, it will be a more solemn affair, following the recent tradition of players not celebrating goals against their old clubs.

Wolves’ £6million record sale Robbie Keane received huge applause at Molineux when he refused to acknowledge scoring for Tottenham in 2003-04 and Ebanks-Blake will follow suit if he finds the net.

He said: “I’ve got very good memories of the place and I don’t hold that against anyone. If I do happen to score, I won’t be celebrating out of respect for the opportunity they gave me.

“It’s the club that gave me my first opportunity in League football and it’s the same club, same fans and same manager up to a point.

“They loved me and treated me well when I was there. I respect the club, the place and the people that gave me the opportunity.”
