Teixeira ready to ignore the pain

Wednesday 25th February 2009, 11:30AM GMT.

teixiera.jpegAlbion midfielder Filipe Teixeira is ready to play through the pain at Everton after the latest setback in his first Premier League season.

The Portuguese star could figure at Goodison Park despite x-rays confirming he suffered a fractured toe in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Fulham.

Manager Tony Mowbray said: “We will wait and see if he trains on Thursday, but sometimes you can still play with a fractured toe.

“He’s still anxious to be involved, although that will depend on how much pain he has and whether he can get his boot on properly.”

Meanwhile, loan signing Juan Carlos Menseguez will be in the squad again on Merseyside after a brief cameo appearance at Fulham.

But Mowbray is warning fans not to expect too much too soon from the Argentine.

“To get him on the pitch was good,” said Mowbray. “Whether he’s ready physically to make the impact, we will see.

“Injuries and the way the game is going will determine whether he gets game time but I don’t see him, in our current plight, starting.

“I think he is more than capable of giving us pieces of magic by going past people with clever footwork. He’s done that in training.

“But is he the type of player who, when we go away from home trying to be resolute and resilient, might not find a place in the team.

“He’s come from South America and for him to come and play away from home in the Premier League might be difficult at times.”

Tony, please don’t play the same ‘lightweight’ midfield at Everton, add some bite in there and give us a chance.

    Bless little Juan Carlos.
We don’t want to tire him out or let the nasty Prem. players breathe too heavily on him.
IF HE IS ANY GOOD, STICK HIM IN THE TEAM TM!
IT’S TOO LATE TO MUCK ABOUT.
WE NEED POINTS, NOT A CARE HOME FOR WUSSY FOOTBALLERS.
AFTER FULHAM, THEY ALL NEED A ROCKET UP THEIR COLLECTIVE BACKSIDES.

    Ahem.

What was the point in signing him then??

And what would we do with someone that could actually create us chances, eh?
That’s not what we need in our “current plight” is it? Chances.

It’s much more important that we STOP the opposition scoring because draws are what’s going to get us to 17th.

    Nonsense.

    Drivel.

    Tosh.

Mensenguez did more on the right in his cameo than Koren did for the previous 80.

Get Koren in the middle alongside Mogga.
    Mensa on the right.
    Brunt/Tex on the left.
And Bednar and Fortune up front.

Simpson needs to know that his performances haven’t been good enough so chuck him on the bench.

When JP decides that enough is enough I’M gonna run for manager!

“When we go away from home trying to be resolute and resilient”…….which game exactly did this happen in ?
Try “spineless and lacking in commitment”
I’ll get an early guess in at the team for Everton – the same as last week, because they always keep their places in the side, no matter how poorly they’ve played

Tex shouldnt play, with a fractured toe, his chances of at least putting 1 tackle in will be even less so NO NO NO!

Midfield for the probable dismal display we will see saturday (Hope im wrong, doesnt sound like it but im trying a bit reverse thing :P)

    Brunt Pele Mogga Mesnsequez

Pele will at least give us some height in the midfield and will put tackles in (hopefully)
Morrison will create and run with the ball
Brunt will put crosses in for Fortune/Bednar
Mensequez will run his socks off (bless)
