Wolves 2 Cardiff 2 – verdict
Sunday 22nd February 2009, 4:04PM GMT.
Wolves came away with a point after a royal Dimitrios Konstantopoulos clanger at Molineux.
The Cardiff goalkeeper somehow dropped Kyel Reid’s cross into his own net with nine minutes to go.
Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks Blake had nodded the home side in front with his 21st goal of the season after just 11 minutes.
That was cancelled out 20 minutes later, when Michael Chopra latched on to Paul Parry’s choice ball to fire home.
The wobbling Wolves found themselves behind three minutes after the interval, when defender Roger Johnson headed home Parry’s corner.
That was until Konstantopoulos’ timely intervention.

After listening to the commentary on Beacon I thing we can put that down as a point gained rather than two points lost!
The up coming games (on paper) look to be easier.
Just lets hope that they prove to be that on the pitch.
Plymouth are a fading force at the moment however we do seem to manage to draw a lot of games with them.
Reading and The blouses did us a big favour but we cannot rely on them continuing to slip up. It’s in our hands now.
Up The Wolves

We got away with a point, but that’s all you can say about it! I saw nothing to make me believe that we can keep fluking it into the automatic Premiership.

Now look lads we at coventry can’t keep bailing you out.Yesterday we stuffed the blues and to day our ex. keeper helped you out.You really must start standing on you own feet.Spoke to a mate abroad to day he cannot believe that you are calling for the head of a manager who has kept you top since last August.Still we will settle for Chris Coleman who is quietly getting on with the job of re building our club.Good Luck Bill

On the form tables, in the last six games, we are 17th. Bristol, Swansea, Derby and Doncaster are the top four. I though after Blues and Reading slipped up yesterday, we would have jumped on today for all three points, but Cardiff could draw level with us IF they win all their games in hand.

just over a quarter of the season to go – and still top. who’d have thought that at the start of the season? Home straight now and a nice one on Saturday (Plymouth at the Mol) to cement our place whilst the Blooz travel to Sheff Utd. C’mon the Wolves – we can do it

Good First half, but oh dear the second was back to how it has been !I was expecting something better, after Spain and all of Mick’s banter. Cardiff were a capable side, luck was on our side for once but please can we have a left back who can defend !
Thought we were back to ‘something like’ today.
Decent point against a team who have there tails up.
We gifted them the 2 goals but our play was so much better than its been for a while & the fans reacted to that & really got behind the team.
I just wish we could cut out the defensive mistakes, the left back position is starting to become a worry & I think teams are now playing on Stephen Ward, thought he should have stopped the lad from crossing for the 1st goal.
But we were better all over the pitch today & its about time we had a bit of luck.
Onwards & upwards
Keep the faith

You have got to look at it as a point gained this weekend over our nearest rivals who all lost.
I cant see any game being easy down come the end of the season and whatever we do pick up is a bonus.
Reading,Blues Cardiff might have games on us,but its us Wolves who have the points on the board, and i know what position i’d rather be in and thats ours, because its begining to show that no game is becoming easy in this league.
Weere making it hard work for ourselves but i still fancy us to finish in one of the auto positions come the end of the season.
Disappointing result overall, but there was only one way we would score in the 2nd half, and that would be by a fluke goal, and Cardiff obliged.
We seem to be running out of steam, and ideas. Kightly was largely anonymous and Henry just doesn’t have what it takes in midfield.
Opposing teams are able to reduce Jarvis’s threat by placing a quick full back on him. Today, Jarvis was less confident in taking the ball outside of his marker.
It is clear that we need to strengthen in midfield, otherwise we will be overrun in most of the remaining matches.
12 more performances like that with that effort and commitment and that’ll see us right.
Dave Edwards made a big difference and should be given a run in the side.
Craddock and Berra seemed to compliment each other and looked solid enough I thought.
I wasn’t overly impressed with Cardiff and think at this stage of the season they will do well to turn their games in hand into points. I make it a 3 horse race.
All in all we must stay positive and take the improved show as a good sign
Report abuse
A vast improvement by the team, but again our deficiencies were highlighted: Keogh’s inability to put away sitters that your grannie could score, and yet more rank-bad defending that nearly cost us a game we could, and should, have won.
It may be a very valuable point gained in the scheme of things, but unless we put Plymouth to the sword next week, this winless run could prove to be the club’s epitaph, especially McCarthy’s.

Not good enough boys. Sorry.
1 win in 10 is relegation form I am sorry to say and I can’t see where the next win is coming from.
One thing I do know is if we had started the season with 1 win in 10 the manager would have been down the road for sure

it should have been all over by half time and yet again it came to light that we still can not hold on to a lead ,what is the differnce now to the start of the season.by the end of the match wolves where lucky to get a point still trying to walk the ball into the back of the net start having shots from outside the box kegoh had a good first half did nothing second cann,t belive kites could get past kenady he had a bad match mick should have changed things at half time ,why leave it so late on in the game i,m still praying

Terrible mistake by the cardiff goalie but they all count!!!all we gotta do is better blues results and we should go up. Keep the faith!!!

As hard as I try to support Keogh, I must say that my patience is wearing incredibly thin. Were it not for his shocking finishing we would have been out of sight by half time!
The fans got right behind him today and so I do not see what his problem is!?! He just looks a very poor player, found wanting in every department.
Still another point towards the cause, the others might have games in hand but we have points on the board and at the moment I know where i’d rather be!
Up the Wolves!
First half we looked like the wolves from the start of the season, Keogh should have had a goal and he played well as did most of the players in the first half, but again the defence. Ward was beaten too easily in the build to Chopra’s goal and then the second half we conceded another sloppy goal, where was the marking?
That deflated the team completely for the whole 45 minutes and if wasn’t for such a great gift from the Cardiff City goalkeeper then we would of had lost today, but overall an improved performance which is real plus. We need to take that on against Plymouth.

AK should have buried those chances!

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be after going behind 2-1.
It must be MM’s master plan to get promotion with the last game of the season – it would be no fun at all to be already promoted with 4 games to go.
Got to keep those bums on seats. $$$
Just get behind the team, no matter what – they are your team, the team that represents this great club.
If all you want to do is bitch and complain – personally I think there are other clubs that are welcome to you “loyal” support.
No I don’t always agree with player selections – but that is the managers job to do the best he can with what he has got.
Support the team – because they are YOUR team.
If you have nothing good to say hold your tongue (or fingers on keyboard.)
Happy clapper not – team supporter YES I AM.
When we get promoted I can’t wait for people to start complaining about why we aren’t in the top six ………………………never happy – well you can always go and support the baggies back in the championship.

Decent first half hour; then the inevitable collapse – S Ward has had some decent games at left/ wing back BUT was meant to be a stop gap in this position – Is Matt Hill injured or simply not favoured by MM?
Keogh played as a striker (though he runs around alot and had one of his better games/ hit the post) he still cant finish (If any other striker had promised to score 20 goals this season for the “real fans”; I wonder what would have been said by the manager, club and fans – If they couldnt even manage half their target? Yet AK gets regular games – He must be a banker – Makes any amount of mistakes and still keeps his job for as long as he wants!)
Henry not playing very well at the moment – and the best we can do is to bring in Quashie?
Yes a point gained BUT how long can we keep relying on lady luck and our nearest rivals to keep slipping up?
NB* Before anyone decides to state the obvious that we are still top blah blah – yes we can all read – BUT we need to address the issues on the field of play – we need to keep our own destiny in our own hands and NOT hope and pray that Reading or Blues keep slipping up!

If Mick does get us to the Promised Land, then he should be given plenty of credit – put him in the Hall of Fame if you want, but then lock him in there so he can’t get out because he aint a Premier League manager. As soon as the season is over, we need to go out and get Coyle from Burnley or Martinez from Swansea. Both know how to play decent football, how to vary tactics and how to out wit Premier League sides with an inferior team!!

Nobody should be thinking we have any easy games coming up whether they be against Plymouth or whoever for we are not playing well, nor are we grinding out results.
The Cardiff game was one where we should have finished them off before half time but as usual we pussyfooted around and then went 2-1 down, struggling to make our efforts count until that blunder by Zorba the Greek!
McCarthy MUST sort things out and pronto as we are in the ‘business end’ of the season and all for our earlier wins and the points gained, they will count for nothing unless we start winning again and winning consistently!
It would seem no team wants to win the Championship this season but we are the team at the top so let’s get moving, put distance between us and the rest and wrap this league up!

A Good point against a dangerous in form team.Yes they are top of the ‘form’ table and we migt be near the bottom, but its the league table that counts and we’re still top of that!!! Im not a fan of MM but no way is this board-or any other board going to sack a manager of a team thats top of their league with only a handful of games left.3 points next Saturday and we are back on track and with a easier runin,we need to stick together now for the final push even if we all think Henry,Keogh & Collins are C**P and MM doesnt know what hes doing. We can make our voices heard in the summer-and LOUD if MM,JM & SM dont provide us with the players we need just to compete in the Premiership next season.

34 northbank muppet.
2 weeks the southbank is accused of booing AK and knocking his confidence, then we are accused of being Micks yes men. Which one is it. Maybe if you could help get the Northbank to show a little more passion and make some noise rather than just sitting there like cardboard cut outs, we would actually have a bit of passion from both ends. FFS an half full Steve Bull adds more to the atmosphere than your lot
Yesterday i saw it has a point gained. Flukey goal yes, but they all count. Maybe our luck has changed time will tell. 1st half hour was the best this year(not hard i know). Ward unlucky with the challenge that led to there 1st (although the last 3 games have resulted in goals coming from his side. Def the week link IMHO) Seemed to be a foul leading up to the corner which they scored from. WTF was the ref doing with that dance)
We aint gonna get anyone in on loan, so i suggest we get behind what we have. I still think its a 3 horse race and Blose def have (on paper) the toughest run in.
Keep the faith and we will get there.

After our initial burst I felt it was the usual same old tactics.Sorry to say I dont think we will finish in the top two because teams know what tactics we are going to employ and MM is not good enough to employ a plan B to counteract it.Keough is not a goal scorer,Ward aint a full back and Henry aint good enough for central midfield.Keightly failed to take on and beat Mark Kennedy for heavens sake and Berra is no way worth the money we have paid. Its doom and gloom as far as I am concerned.
Keogh misses a sitter, then seconds later Ward has no idea how to defend and Cardiff score, 2 of the players given long term contracts. All we needed was for Mad MM to put Collins on and for him to score a home goal, Keogh does run after everything but if thats what you want go to the local athletics club, you could pick loads of lads FOC. This is just not good enough,we would get killed in the prem with this crap. Foley get out of this club ASAP before MM kills your career. small crowd again, MM is killing this club.

1. Why does MM se fit to change SEB’s strike partner EVERY game ?…..familiarity breeds confidence and understanding. Why not pick one get a partnership going ?
2. Why does MM (ex International defender !) still refuse to put someone on the post at corners ? It’s cost us several goals this season.
3. Whilst I think Ward has done reasonably well at left back…..his defensive weaknesses are now been exposed and it seems most goals we conceed nowadays our left back/centre forward is at fault. I think teams are playing on this !! round pegs/round holes etc.
This is not a negative rant….but, some valid points that if addressed I belive will help and not hinder us achieving our goal.

The performance was good enough to beat most teams in this division but I do wonder whether we will ever see this Wolves team keep a clean sheet. The next game is against the worst team in the division on current form but with Wolves having won one in ten it is hardly a foregone conclusion. A convincing win is needed to get us back on track.

Yesterday was a point gained, DEFINITELY, we are 1 point better off than last week and no worse off with cardiff, we have the 12 points in the bag for their 4 games in hand, and they have to win them all, i know which scenario i’d sooner have !! If we can just keep nicking an advantage here and there we’ll be ok, If blues let in 1 or 2 their best will be a draw, they cannot score, and reading are tripping over their own shoelaces! no 1 wants to win!!! But guys, its not going to be pretty ,but we’ll be fine! trust me, I’m a gynaecologist!!!

44. I was thinking similar things to you. I can’t get my head around McCarthy’s endless tampering with the front two (it’s counterproductive), nor can I understand him playing Ward at left back (even though he’s done well, considering). I want to see Wolves playing to their strengths and that means square pegs in square holes.
As a bit of experience is required to see us home, maybe Chris Iwelumo should partner SEB up front. It worked early season and can work again if MM shows Chris the same, blind faith he’s showed Keogh. I’m pretty confident Chris would’ve broke his duck yesterday had Keogh’s chances fallen to him.
I’m staggered that a manager like McCarthy still hasn’t sorted out our defence despite himself being an ex-international centre half. I particularly agree with your second point about defenders being placed on the post. Why is this not being addressed?
No wonder we’ve got one of the worst defences in the division if McCarthy is so oblivious to the obvious. I also thought that defending starts from those in front of the back four, something we’re not seeing with any great conviction. Henry only retains his place, as I see it, because he’s Captain and Mick can’t afford to be seen questioning his own appointments, can he? Sorry, but Karl’s not doing his job because he’s not leading by example and putting his foot in where it hurts.
As for Keogh’s workrate, I can’t complain because this kid “always puts a shift in”. However, it’s obvious Andy can’t hit a cow’s backside with a banjo. I advise Mick send him to a local brothel for target practice. There again, he’d probably not score there, either.

Great 30 min and they did not look a threat, however a bit of luck with the ball staying in on the by line cost us the initiative.
Keogh did well although he had a chance that I do believe the goalkeeper made a great stop and was not missedby him.
As for KITES did anyone see him did little and seems like the rest do not want to pass to him when he is in space????????????

I couldn’t make the match this week, but I hear Keogh missed a sitter again! And by all accounts this is what turned it around for Cardiff.
I have just complied some rough stats and wished MM could see this:

IWELUMO 19 games = 13 goals
VOKES 7 games = 3 goals

Well it was The Good the Bad and the Ugly. The first 30 Mins we played as well as earlier in the season. They Got an equaliser against the run-of-play and we then gave away what advantage we had.Why ? – I agree with a couple of the earlier comments – whilst Stephen Ward at left back tries hard and is a much better player than before – He is a weakness and other teams are working this out quickly. When we do not start with a Big Man up front why do we continually poke long high balls -SEB and Andy Keogh ar’nt big enough to win them. However Andy Keogh had a Good Game -”Keep of him moaners he can play” we know what he’s capable of – but it is frushtrating when he does’t play to his ability Midfield is a problem though a much improved match for Edwards but Karl Henry had a “Mare”.Can someone tell me whats happened to David Jones we had no one able to take a free kick – as was painfully obvious yesterday.
Plymouth on Saturday is a must win match as they all are – but don’t think they’ll come here to be turned over. We must play better – yesterday was a start – keep it going!

Seems to me alot of you on hear accept the crap that we have, Ward Mad MM would play him in gaol just so he gets a game, Keogh yes runs around a lot so do Long distance runners but would you want them in the team, the goal keepers have lost the sparkle since we lost Mimms and the defence well every team will now score against us, dont some of you take Plymouth for granted, there form is prob on a par with us. We are awful at would have no chance in the Prem with Mad MM, this guy should admit he is not up to the Job, nor his Coaches, same prob every game S Ward is not A DEFENDER.

Thought it was a point gained yesterday. Two things are becoming obvious with regards to team selection. Steven Ward is being targeted by sides to go at him, we should now play Stearman at left back. Kites is being doubled up on and should play him in central midfield alongside Quashie with Reid on the right. The only way to win this league is to play to our strengths and that is to go all out attack and against the more physical sides (cardiff, blues etc) play Iwelumo, the game was crying out for him in the second half yesterday.

Im just wondering if Mick McCarthy realises how important this season is for him as manager of Wolves.
I dont think he realises if we dont get promoted then he will probably get the sack. Im fully behind the gaffer still, but are slowly losing faith altogether.
I was listening to the game yesterday and are led to believe we were the better side first half but once again cant hold a lead. I cant see us getting out of this bad run. Although would love to see it happen.
We need a reshuffle in Midfield, with Kites on the bench and Reid playing. I think Kightly is a great player but is trying too hard, he needs to get back to basics instead of trying to score and be the best as he thinks is he.
If he gets back to basics putting good passes and crosses together we will see him play well, but to me, all he wants to do is score and not help contribute to play and actually get a foot in and start tracking back and tackling.
I still think we will make automatic, because other teams around us are having bad spells. Keep the faith everyone.
UP THE WOLVES !!!!!!!!!!!

After recent displays I was encouraged by the first half performance in general, although we did have some great chances and failed to take them. At half time, despite conceding their equaliser I was still quietly confident that if we continued in the same vein, then we could go on and win the match. However, unfortunately a lacklustre, half hearted team appeared and once again we were overrun in midfield.
Positive points – Decent first half on the whole. I thought Craddock and Berra played well together, although I’m not suggesting that Craddock is the answer but it was right to rest Stearman. We created some good chances and the crowd got behind the team.
Negative points – We didn’t put away the good chances. Despite being the captain, Henry needs dropping, at the moment he is simply not good enough. Our midfield is easily overrun, maybe replacing Henry with Jones (if he is fit) could solve this. Turgid second half performance with Kightly becoming anonymous. Mick needs to identify problems and make the relevant substitutions quicker than he does right now!

Support was excellent yesterday paricularly from the south bank, players responded brilliantly in the first half hour. Keogh had his best game for ages, and was unlucky not to score. The one that went over the bar was a good save by their keeper. Lost our way afterwards by not keeping the ball especially in midfield, Henry and Kightly the biggest culprits. Edwards was full of running and enthusiasm and should keep his place but Kightly is a cause for concern, and didnt look interested for large parts of the game. Wonder what’s going on there. Otherwise much improved all round.

47. I’ve got my doubts about whether some of the ‘fans’ on here actually go to games, too. I certainly go because I’m an ST holder.
You say “we’ll be fine”, but that will ONLY apply if Mad Mick stops his ridiculous tinkering and uses a common sense approach during the run-in. That means selecting his strongest side available and dropping this ‘mix and match’ daftness just so that he can accomodate his ‘favourites’ at any cost.
Anybody would think it’s only Keogh, Ward (and until recently, Collins) who “put a shift in”.
If we blow it (and I’m NOT saying we will), McCarthy should go. In that case, I think McCarthy’s epitaph would read:
“Pig-headed to the last breath. Obstinate and as thick-skinned as a mule. Undoubted loyalty far beyond the call of rational duty to those he loved so much. Derided by some sections of fans, but, just like his workhorse team, Mad Mick always put a shift in”.

I cannot belive some of the stuff written here Every one seems to have the culprit that is causing us to struggle Henry Ward Kightley Hennessey Jarvis Berra Keogh I have probably missed someone so I apologize
In my opinion the buck should stop at the managers door without resorting to sniping at any player.
I have a question for Mr McCarthy Its about tactics ………….WE WANT SOME
If we must rely on the long boot up field whats the point of playing with 2 wingers?
Why wasnt Iwelumo brought on with Volkes and Blake played behind them If the long ball is Mr McCarthy’s prefered attacking option.
After the terrible mistake by the Cardif keeper saturday why for the ten remaining he was not bothered with a cross or shot
The long thump up field was handled with ease by the Cardif rear guard and when we should have been roaring forward we were in fact defending
My opinion is we should appoint a coach NOW someone to “help” and “advise” the current team It will soon be too late
We have the players We have the support We have the hunger wheres the leadership

You what? Keogh was unlucky not to score???? You’re having a laugh! He missed two absolute sitters – again!!!! Scuffing a ‘shot’ against the post from SIX yards is not being unlucky!!
Big Chris was the perfect foil for Sylvain, was described by MM as ‘exactly the sort of player we’ve needed’ when he signed him, scored 13 goals before Xmas and has hardly been given a chance since.
Those of you who really believe Keogh had a ‘good game’ yesterday deserve whats coming to you – another season in this poxy diviion!!

We play better with Keogh in the starting line up and got Vokes as a super sub. Football is a team game – of course its annoying Keogh doesnt score many goals, but the overall performance from the team is better with Keogh than without him. Its a fact that the results are better with Keogh, Collins and specially Jones in the starting lineup than without them. Play them and get rid of Henry and maybe Kightly and we will start win games again.

With a dozen games to go, including a massive six-pointer at Blues, nothing can be taken for granted. After all, yesterday saw us struggling near the end to grab a fortunate point from a game we should have won at a canter inside the first 30 mins.
So, anything can happen and, with our liability of a defence, it probably will.
Nothing less than THREE points versus Plymouth is acceptable. That’s the bottom line if we’re deadly serious about restoring confidence AND winning promotion. Time for Mick and the team to earn their substantial salaries and get the results we need.

Some of the comments now are out of order………… I didn’t see any really before New Year and have some of you not thought, well maybe 1 in 10 isn’t good enough but haven’t many other results gone our way!! We are still top and it’s for the others to catch us. We are still in the driving seat!!!!
I shall be back home in May and I’m not coming home for the ‘Play Offs’!!!!!!!! Brian B

This was a much improved performance all round with much more commitment. We really should have rapped the game up in the first 30 minutes when we had 3 or 4 very good opportunities. Cardiff did not look very sound in defence, a bit like Wolves, but have some speedy front men.
I have to agree with posts 6 and 7, the left back position is a problem. I like ward for his effort and contribution going forward but we need a full back that knows how to play a fast winger and can defend. If ward had dealt with the winger when he actually had he ball just prior to the pass that led to the first Cardiff goal it may have been so different. This was effectively their first attack.
And how Jarvis, who was the producer of most of our opportunities, was substituted instead of Kightly is a complete mystery.

cannot believe that nobody as mentioned the part the referee(WHEN WE GOING TO GET A HOMER)played in both their goals
ward was pulled back by his shirt right under the officals nose by parry that enabled him to get his pass in
and henry was pulled back and spun round by ledley and he went on to get the corner they scored from
im seriously depressed by the standard of reffing this season
as for their keeper giving us a point he was the reason they wasn’t 4 down before halftime

And dont insinuate that I dont support everyone wearing the shirt. I think Keogh is the worst pro striker I’ve ever seen. For me. he’s utter garbage but I still applaudued him when he was subbed.
Getting behind the team is not the issue. Just what is the point in this sort of forum if you cant air your opinions here?
Its not Keoghs fault he’s so sh*t, its MMs for playing him ahead of big Chris or Sam.

What happened to we are all buzzing after the trip to La Manga! First bad bit if defending came on 31 minutes the moment Chopra scored from their FIRST ATTACK! Roger Johnson unmarked header for their second. Why does Vokes get 1 full game up front & Keogh is straight back in! Henry is awful just because he is captain doesn’t mean he can’t be dropped!!! Why not give Gleeson a go – MM will not use our youth system! It was handed on plate too us this weekend with Reading, Blues & Preston losing and we still can’t take advantage! MM said we needed 10 wins from the last 20 games – it is now 9 from 12!!!! If we blow it this season it will be a DISGRACE!!! Worse than 2001/02!

84 – Well said. Genuine fans know Keogh had a good game and was unfortunate not score. A great one handed save from the keeper a point blank range summed up Keoghs afternoon. As for the scuff I thought it was a deft little touch to throw the keeper – and it worked, only to hit the post. Had SEB been alert he would have had a easy tap in. Nuff said. The Albion need supporters at the mo if all those anti mick and keogh brigade need some where to go, you will cost us so stay away….

As a North bank ticket holder I can say with complete certainty we do NOT stand there like ‘cardboard cutouts’ or perhaps it’s just the supporters that surround me that make some noise and everyone else is quiet in the NB. Nah.
If those of you saying yesterdays game was ‘relegation form’ and so forth, then it’s simple – you couldn’t have been at the game.. In comparison to some games we have played lately, Burnley being the worst performance by far.. Then yesterdays game play was an absolute 180 degree turn around. Yes there are still a couple of defensive issues, but from where I was Berra and Craddock did excellently, although I think Berra and stearman should still be the obvious choice.
Yep we missed a few key chances, but when the final whistle blew we fully DESERVED that point, and I for one do not think it was 2 points lost. We fought and played damn hard and it was unlucky we didn’t walk away with all 3 points, BUT from the way that we had played, we didn’t deserve to walk away with 0 points either and I think that second goal was justice prevailing, now when we played Burnley, that performance WAS deserving of our 0 point outcome.
How the hell people can refer to a team who have been in bad form.. coming back and drawing against an in form Cardiff as ‘relegation form’ is beyond me. We worked hard we played hard, the few mistakes we made were accepted and we didn’t drop our game play, we continued pushing until the last whistle.
If we had come away with a draw after playing as terribly as we did at Burnley, i’d be concerned, but we didn’t, we played well. And I for one still believe the title, and promotion are still firmly within our grasp.
As for those of you who said ‘come back next week when Cardiff have beaten us’… Shame on you ‘supporters’. It might not have been a win.. But it wasn’t a loss either. And it was a damn good match.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! Enough is enough, AK is the worst striker we have at the club. His goals per game ratio stats that. But MM is pig headed and stubborn. Typical yorkshireman! Never liked to be told any different, but if wolves do not go up this season he ought to be sacked straight after the final whistle and no hesitation! MM picks Craddock over Stearman when last season Craddock was deemed surplus to requirements and now he is a 1st teamer again, when he has spent £1M on Shackell, £half a million on D.Ward. Big Chris or Vokes to start on saturday, strip the captaincy from Mickey Mouse Karl Henry and drop him from the team. Capt’s are meant to lead from the front. HENRY DOESNT! Thank god for SEB, without his goals we be stuffed! Also does Kites look like someone who has a pre-agreement with a prem-club, his form has not been great of late!

Andy “cant hit a barn door” keogh.. league appearances 30 goals 3
Sylvan ebanks Blake… league appearances 33 goals 21
Chris iwellumo … league appearances 19 goals 13
Sam vokes… league starts 2 ,23 appearances brought on by thick mick with a few mins to go ,goals 5
If keogh lovers accept their boy cant hit a donkeys backside with a banjo they scream we are a better team with keogh in it like SE muppet poster number 69 so…..
Games keogh has started 15 team goals 28

I can imagine a half time entertainment scenario at Molineux…Keogh stumbling past three cardboard cut outs, shuffling to the edge of the penalty area, and scuffing a shot against the cardboard keeper. Presumably, you’d applaud him for a deft little effort that the keeper saved brilliantly…

MM were you happy with Hoddle. How you can talk about getting rid of the manager when we are top of the league and at the business end of the season is beyond me. Who do you replace him with???? More importantly who would want to come here with the type of fans who have it in for the gaffer no matter were the team is in the table
Every comment you make is negative.
constant whinging isn’t gonna get us out of this league. 100% from manager/players and fans.

99.. Southbank, my sentiments exactly, so many so called ‘fans’ on here making predictions of losses before a ball has even been kicked, and when we come back for a well deserved draw, there seems to be disappointment that they weren’t correct and we didn’t lose.
What is that all about people? It’s ridiculous. Do you really waste money on season tickets to watch and support a team you so clearly want to fail just to prove your own pig headedness correct? Or do you just claim to be ticket holders so your inane rants seem more plausible?
Keogh might not be able to ‘hit a barn door’ but he still had a good game yesterday despite missing opportunities.

I am a keogh fan. I think the bloke is a great example to all players.
Even if the fans are booing him or knocking him, still runs his socks off an gives 110%.
We knew Keogh wasnt a goal machine when we bought him in, and it was Billy Sharp, so therefore, why dog the lad because he doesnt score as much.
Although he doesnt score, his passing and movement on and off the ball is still very good.
You lot need to take another look at what Keogh does best, and that is:
Holds the ball up well
Passing, making good short sharp flick ons and through balls
And last of all, running his feet into the ground to win the ball.
And yes I DO think he is a favourite, but giving 110% every week and showing the right attitude and doing what he does best, I WOULD GIVE HIM THAT STARTING SHIRT EVERY WEEK!
UP THE WOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!!

keoghiscrap – Agree Keogh is not good enough but you need to back the team to the hilt until the end of the season. We all have an opinion, but we all have the same end goal. Mick will live or die by his decisions and it’s time to back him. Did SEB get forgiven for his penalty miss at Coventry? That point would have been really helpfull given the weekend’s result. What would have happen had Keogh missed it? Booed out the ground no doubt – which is wrong. That is what I disagree with.

96/ Facts:
Games with Keogh in starting line up: 8-4-3 = 1.87 points/game
Games without Keogh in starting line up: 11-3-5 = 1.89 points/game
Not much difference playing with or without Keogh, but you have to consider Keogh wasnt playing early in the season when Iweulmos form was great. I prefer an in-form Iwelumo before Keogh, but as he isnt in-form now, its better to play Keogh. A regular Keogh performance is by far better than an Iwelumo “offside and freekick against”-performance.
Anyone knowing anything about football agrees, but sadly a lot of so called Wolves fans just dont understand the game, and their behaviour against the players can cost us promotion.
Thank you so very much, morons!

Never was it truer to say that football’s a game of opinions!
Respect to you for sticking up for your point of view but I see a mirror image of what you do.
Keogh is not just an inept finisher, he’s got a poor first touch, never wins a header, never makes a tackle or closes defenders down (he used to when he first came here but is now content to jog goalside rather than really close the ball down) cannot control a ball played to his feet let alone ‘hold it up’ and spends most of his time postitioning himself where he thinks the ball won’t go!
One of your self-confessed favourites, Keogh started regularly last season and we finished 7th.
Big Chris started 19 times this season, scored 13 goals and helped to put us in the strongest position we’ve ever been in for promotion.
Mastermind Mick then publicly slagged him off, dropped him, restored Keogh to his wrongful place and look at it now – one win in ten!!

109 Booing of the players is NOT acceptable granted BUT comments or opinions on an internet message board – What are these players, manager and coaching staff – MEN OR MICE?
NB* These people are in the entertainment business – IF anyone paid to watch a comedian perform or play etc – What would they do if the performance was inept/ no good? Nuff said!
Fans should stop being so gullable and realise that ANY excuse by the club, players and manager is far better than a positive action to put it right – We all need to understand the age old expression “sticks and stones”
The oldest excuse in the book is to blame the fans – Its a kop out – If the team were busy playing well – Ask yourselves if they would even bother making any comments?
Yes there may well be a small minority at games and on message boards BUT surely these “men” are not so soft that they cant perform – IF they all really want it they would go that extra mile to get it – BUT I believe its more a case of the tactics are not fooling anyone at the moment and we desperately need a Plan B or Is stating the obvious that most people can clearly see at games classed as negative?
Never mind what other teams are doing – Lets focus on what we are doing and finish the job at hand – As the saying goes – Its not how you start Its how you finish!
The question that everyone wants to know is simple: Does MM have a Plan B?
UP THE WOLVES!

115 I remember that article well – and thought the same
People easily forget Keoghs little outburst and that he would score “20 goals for the real fans”
So what happened to those 20 goals Mr Keogh?
AK reminds me of someone I used to work with – who had a brilliant abillity of looking extremely busy – but when you looked a little closer you could plainly see that he had done very very little all day
I suppose if you think about it – some fans see Keogh playing (running around like a blue xxxxx fly all day at games and think – “look at him tirelessly running around – Isnt he good” whereas others see him chasing shadows, avoiding tackling players but endlessly running around (maybe he needs to keep warm?) ah yes, and miss controlling the ball/ scuffing his shots (Is that another meaning to mis hitting the ball?)
Personally, I dont know what Keogh really is – BUT he certainly aint a striker – Anyone got any idea? ;-)

117. Sorry, but I aint got an answer to that question of yours, TUS. Well, actually I have: a space filler that would be best utilised by playing Big Chris, but I don’t wish to upset the Keogh-loving fraternity by saying that. Put bluntly, your description of Andy is bang-on, mate, and is exactly how I see him: he’s a blue a***d fly.
I’m still waiting for those 20 promised goals, too. That’s probably why Mick sticks by him: MM must be convinced that Andy’s going to bag 17 goals in the final 12 games and blast us to the Promised Land…

119. Mine, too. ;-)
If Andy even so much as DOUBLES his goal tally to a healthy six, I think he’ll have done really well.
Surely even Andy can manage a strike rate of just one goal per four games over the rest of the season to achieve that target? With the poor opposition we will face, he’ll never have a better opportunity. Even the Keogh Fan Club must admit that 1-in-4 isn’t exactly demanding. It’s much less difficult than aiming for another 17….

120 YOSB – I remember watching Keogh closely when we were taking Forest apart this season and he had a clear chance right infront of the goal and everyone could see that he was looking to pass the ball??? (hot potatoe) – JUST the keeper to beat and right infront of the North bank – no pressure then – as it’s alledgedly the South bank that causes all the trouble! ;-) I think we were 4 up at the time and the Mol was getting ready for the usual song – eh – Lets all have a dis – co etc
I dont blame the lad personally BUT he wasnt good enough at dirty Leeds – he then went to Sunny Scunny and set up Billy Sharp to score loads – BUT that was in a lower league, where players with a tad of intelligence can thrive
He came to us with a rep for being a creative No 2 striker – and started off well BUT faded in his 2nd and 3rd seasons
People would say thats because of the boo boys and message boards – To be honest as I said before – IF players, managers and staff are that spineless – Do we really want them – and as you have rightly pointed out – the higher up they go, the worse it will become for them!
IF these spineless players, staff and manager want an “easy life” – Dont lets us stop you – Go play in the lower leagues or abroad
Dont kid yourselves that you are gonna be good in the Prem or even in the Championship
IF you really want to represent our great club – Stop whinging and start doing NOW
Its high time they all stopped hiding behind BS excuses and DO what they all get paid very very handsomely for EVERY week without fail – The sort of money us mere mortals can only dream about!
AND THAT APPLIES TO ALL OF THEM NOT JUST AK
