Michael Kightly insists the Wolves “family” can prove an unbeatable force in the Championship run-in.

Wolves host in-form Cardiff ,with fans increasingly anxious at the club’s poor run after one win in the last nine Championship games.

But the flying winger insists if the team return to their sizzling, high-tempo football of a few months ago, the crowd will respond.

Kightly said: “The fans might be getting a bit worried and that’s understandable because results haven’t been great.

“But when they’re on the top of their game and we’re on the top of ours then no-one can beat us.

“If we can bring our ‘A’ game and they bring theirs –  as they normally do – I’m sure we’ll produce a few more per cent ourselves.

“It always helps when the crowd are behind us and there’s a great atmosphere and hopefully we can get the result together.

“When we were flying and playing well the fans were unbelievable.

“Instead of people coming to Molineux, thinking it’s a place which gets moany, groany and quiet, they were thinking that once the crowd gets behind Wolves, then it’s game over.

“We know it’s up to us to set that off by the way we’re playing. If we can do that and the fans can follow then it will be a hard day for anyone.”

Kightly revealed how a heart-to-heart between the players has hopefully banished the lack of confidence in the dressing room for the 13-game run-in to the season’s finale.

He said: “We had a good chat while we were away. It was a good trip.

“It’s now not a case of talking about the fact we were seven points clear or whatever. We’ve got to look at it as we’re still top and have a mini-season to go with 13 games left.

“If we win that league then we’ll be up, and we’re starting on top. If we get the mentality that we’ve just got to win from here onwards then we should be OK.”
