I’ve nothing to prove says Jay
Saturday 21st February 2009, 10:59AM GMT.
Striker Jay Bothroyd returns to Molineux for the first time since moving to Cardiff revealing why his time at Wolves did not work out.
The much-travelled forward joined Cardiff last August for £300,000 after two years under boss Mick McCarthy.
Bothroyd said: “I didn’t enjoy the day-to-day work at Wolves, but that’s what happens in football.
“I’m enjoying my football at Cardiff and playing the best football of my career and loving the life down here. Everything’s good for me and my family love it here too which is important to me.
“Cardiff play to a system that suits my game and that’s why things are working out for me.”
Bothroyd will spearhead the Bluebirds’ attack against his former club hoping to inflict a timely reminder on McCarthy, whose side have just won one game in the last nine.
But he insists he has nothing to prove to his former manager or club, as he prepares to take his place in a side unbeaten in 11 Championship games.
The striker said: “I have nothing to prove to Mick McCarthy or to Wolves. He went his way and I went mine and I think I’m much better off at Cardiff City.”

A massive waste of talent! Promised so much at every club he has been at and delivered very little on each and every occasion!

Bothroyd was awful at Wolves- the ex ewatford manager adrian bothroyd would have been better up front- talking of which he would be my tip to take over from mad mick hopefully sooner rather than later MC CARTHY OUT

2- “Mad Mick” has bought a Scottish international and England under-21 international centre-back. He brought in an Irish international right-back, and has developed a potential Irish international left-back. This shows he recognised where our needs were. He also wanted to keep another England under-21 international centre-back, but was thwarted in that by Chelsea. Berra and Stearman will be a good pairing, but need time together to form that partnership. Berra has only played twice for us. Give it time. (Hearts fans really rated him, as did severalPremiership managers. He needs just a few more games.)
Have you tried any positivity at all? It is quite refreshing. Unfortunately it has side effects. You smile, feel good, realise that people do have the same desires for the club as you do, but can see that negativity doesn’t work. Try it occasionally. I note we don’t hear from you when we are doing well. Positivity allows you to do that as well. It’s not as easy sometimes, as you need also to look at the good that others do. It also means that occasionally you will have to think long-term, and disagree with knockers like you currently are. (At the moment, you only seem happy when we are doing badly, and you can knock Mick, Collins, Keogh, “happy clappers,” etc.)
Still, I have to hand it to you. You know your football. You were in the mob last season that told us “happy clappers” that your beloved Freddy was a 20+ goals per season man, and that we, along with “Muppet Mick” were the only ones that couldn’t see it. He wasn’t given the opportunities by “The MUPPET” to start, and that was all that was stopping him doing so. How many has he got this season so far? 21? 23? 25? What? Only 3? NO!!!! Is he starting regularly still at Coventry? NO? Are you kidding me when you say he came on only after 89 minutes today? Surely, only “Mad Mick” would do something like that. After all, he IS a 20+ goals per season man. YOU TOLD US HE WAS, and you know so much more than “Mad Mick.” “Happy Clappers” like me know nothing. We said he would never score 20+ goals per season above Division 1 level. How wrong could we be??? Pleas pass me my slice of humble pie.

10. Spot on mate, couldn’t have said anything better!
As for Bothroyd, the words over-rated, lazy, pompous and cry-baby come to mind, anyone else agree?
