Sheen the Marine: Part Two

Friday 20th February 2009, 8:15AM GMT.

Wednesbury Boxing Club BoxersHalesowen’s Royal Marine Keith Sheen continues his professional journey at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall promising there will be no conflict of interest.

The welterweight made his debut last September with a win over Danny Coyle, now he aims to continue his unbeaten start in his first fight at the home of boxing in the West Midlands next Friday night.

Sheen combines his job in the forces with his boxing career, two of the most physically demanding fields possible.

The 29-year-old has so far managed to combine the two with success – and he doesn’t expect that to change.

He said: “I have been doing my job for 10 years now and, if I am under pressure for the training involved with boxing as well my job, then that is my choice. I an passionate about the both of them – and it has never been a problem so far.

“I box for the marines anyway, so I am training with them even when I am on the job! I have to train hard there as well, so I am confident that I will be as fit as they come in the ring. Thats is not all there is to being a success in boxing, but it certainly won’t hurt me.

“My job and my training for the big fight have left me super fit – you will see that at the Civic.”
