Sylvan backed to be 30 goal man

Thursday 12th February 2009, 11:20AM GMT.

SOCCER Wolves 6Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has been told he’s got another 10 goals in him this season to fire Wolves to automatic promotion.

The 20-goal hitman has been hurting this week after his penalty miss cost Wolves a point at Coventry last Saturday.

A stomach bug then cost him the chance to put the incident behind him on Tuesday, when he was forced to withdraw from the England under-21s squad who lost 3-2 to Ecuador in Spain.

But his Wolves team-mates have rallied to his cause and left-back Stephen Ward reckons the 22-year-old can hit the 30-goal mark, smashing the 23-goal tally that earned him the Championship’s Golden Boot last season.

Ward said: “Definitely – that’s the striker he is. He’s been different class this season and I’ve no doubt he’ll get a few more goals for us over the rest of the season.

“He’s one of the best strikers I’ve ever played with. He’s an out and out goalscorer, he wants to score goals and I think he always will.

“It was unfortunate for him on Saturday, but he’ll definitely bounce back as soon as possible.”

Fifteen-goal strike partner Chris Iwelumo, himself out of sorts after 11 appearances without hitting the net, believes Ebanks-Blake deserves credit for his bravery, in even taking the 94th minute spot-kick.

Iwelumo said: “Of course he’ll bounce back. I think it was a testament to him that he stepped up to take it, but that’s what he’s all about. He’s just got goals in him all the time.”

He will need more than 10 goals to get us promotion at the rate they going in at the other end!

Still I will take 10 one nils and him scoring the only goals in them! Still only 10 Wins away from promotion!

Lets just get back to playing good football, produce the chances and see what happens.

    WE’RE DOOMED….!

No we are not. The only sides playing well behind us are the Taffs – Cardiff and Swansea. Blues are not and Reading blow hot and cold.
The Tesco’s went up by scoring enough goals and so shall we but with an even better strike rate.
Ebanks-Blake will get another 10 and Vokes, Iwelumo and Keogh will chip in with another 10 plus I fancy Kites to get into double figures.

He is not just a goalscorer though. His all round play is so impressive, he can hold off 2-3 defenders at a time with his stregth, his pace, his vision and awareness are superb. I read today that Wigan want to pay 10mil for him and kightly try 10 mil for sylvan cause this guy would be a handful in the prem and will be for the wolves next season when we are there. My other targets would be:

    Gabbidon

Fantastic to hear because I don’t douubt each players commitment, and with all that in mind the inevitable turn-around will happen and I predict it will happen from this weekend against Burnley away.
As for SEB fantastic player great goal scorer and good on you for stepping up for the penalty. I was right behind the goal at Coventry when you took it and I thank you for your courage, keep up the good work and I do hope you get to 30 goals for the season if not more.

11 – Nige I wasnt slagging off the defence. Stating a fact that we will need more than his goals, he has been only one that looks like he is going to score, he cannot take us up alone!

I do support my team going to all home games including any cup match whoever it against. And as many away games I can. Roll on Sheff Weds away after that I wont miss a single kick of our games!

18 – If you look at our remaining games I would say there is 8 matches we can win with “little trouble”

We play 2 twos in bottom 3 at home! 7 against teams in the bottom half (2 at home and 5 away)
Then I was say other 5 are “better” teams than the others but 3 are at home and 2 away! KEEP THE FAITH!

If we beat Blues and Cardiff that could counts as four wins!

    Have to say i think…

kightly is a beckham type player

and Jarvis is a giggs type player

If we could only get them on form at the same time with the black steve bull up front (SEB) we wont struggle to score !!

Now the PROBLEM… the DEFENCE !

bring kieth cule bk to coach them or something.

Worryingly Stearman (my fav defender) got turned too easily AGAIN for England u21 last night.

Foley im happy with, Ward great if the rest is doing there job so he can go forward with them covering.

Berra / just wish his name was Manciene, not seen enuff to judge yet… but he WILL be judged.

That just leaves Hennesey who id drop IF we had any kind of REAL cover for him… POSSIBLY JOE HART from MAN CITY

BOTH gk and df can only stop leaking goals if they have confidence in each other.

Hennesey needs to be ALOT more vocal and aggressive coming to claim the ball, THEN and ONLY then, you will see a more confident defence too !!!

BRING BOBBY MIMMS (our old gk coach) BACK NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!
