Hundreds of West Bromwich Albion fans today took advantage of 40 free coaches laid on take them to the crucial match at Hull City.
Baggies supporters gathered at The Hawthorns first thing before heading north courtesy of the club to the KC Stadium.
It is not the first time the club has laid on free travel – over the past six seasons supporters have been whisked away to Barnsley, Norwich, Wigan, Middlesbrough, Charlton, Sunderland and West Ham.
Martin Lamb, 49, a warehouse manager, from Canterbury Road, West Bromwich, said: “Everyone seems to be in a really good mood. It should be a great day.”
Radio broadcaster Steven Beech, aged 21, of Gerrard Road, Willenhall added: “I’m going to boing boing all the way.
“The atmosphere is fantastic and the free coaches really help.
“We already had a few songs on the coach and we’ve not even left West Brom yet.
“I’m so glad the club has decided to do this because its a really nice gesture.” His father John Beech, 49, said: “I’ve been on every one of these free trips and the most memorable was the win at Charlton.
“It’s brill to go to an away game because there is such a camaraderie.”
Albion Chairman Jeremy Peace said the coaches were a way of thanking the club’s loyal supporters.
He said: “The supporters once again have always been brilliant on our away trips.
“The backing they have given the team is appreciated by everyone at the club – particularly the manager and players.”
Also on the coach today was van driver Graham Moore, aged 29, of Barlow Road, Wednesbury.
He said: “I love the fact that everyone is singing. The atmosphere is really buzzing and I can’t wait to get on the coach and set off. Today’s gesture is all about showing our stand and support for the club after the result against Man U.
“The great thing about Albion fans is their sense of humour and we always have plenty of ups and downs.”
