A train driver and volunteer on the Severn Valley Railway has captured his love of steam trains on film and put together a photographic display for other enthusiasts.

Jason Houlders, aged 39, who was born in Kidderminster and brought up in Bewdley, has photographed a wide variety of subjects including ones from the footplate of the most prized locomotives.

His work captures the railway throughout the year and he has now put together a slide show for fellow enthusiasts which is to be shown as part of a season of film shows tomorrow.

The display will feature slides of the devastating floods that have hit the line between Bewdley and Bridgnorth during the past two years. Mr Houlders, who has been working as a volunteer on the railway since 1983, said: “Within the show of my work I hope to feature shots of the railway during different times of the day and through the various seasons.

“I will also be putting the volunteers in the frame. They do a wide variety of roles and I hope people will enjoy seeing what happens on the railway and just what the volunteers do.”

Among the slides he will be showing will be atmospheric ones of the railway during the night and during special visits such as the one by the Prince of Wales last year.

His slide show is to take place at the Kidderminster Railway Museum at the Severn Valley Railway’s Station Approach at Comberton Hill, Kidderminster, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets can be reserved by calling 01562 825316.
