Morrison gears up for key week

VILLA ALBION 10 DH 6Midfielder James Morrison has geared up the Baggies for their “biggest week of the season” as he prepares to return to the starting line-up.

The key midfielder is poised for a recall at Hull, after returning as a substitute against Manchester United on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old believes he is back at the perfect time, with the vital visit to the KC Stadium followed by an FA Cup replay at Burnley on Tuesday and a potentially crucial meeting with fellow relegation candidates Newcastle at the Hawthorns next Saturday.

Morrison said: “Our situation at the moment makes every game bigger than usual. In my column on the internet I said that Middlesbrough was the biggest game of the season, but every new game now is the biggest game of the season.

“This is another one and we are fully focused on it. This week is a crucial week in our season, because if we can win these two it will put us right up the table.

“But we need to keep it up. There would be no point in putting a load of hard work in this week and then letting it drop off. Beating teams around us is one of the main things we have to do to get out of this, which is why Hull is such a massive game.

“It’s one we can win. Last season we went there and won and we’re looking to build on that result.”

Albion will take on a Hull side in the midst of a slump, having collected just one win from 14 matches since they beat the Baggies 3-0 at the Hawthorns in October.

Morrison reckons he and his team-mates can take heart from the Tigers’ recent struggles, while trying to wipe their own 5-0 midweek thrashing by Manchester United from their minds.

He said: “With the manner of the defeat it’s hard to put it out of your mind but we’ve got a bigger game now, so we’ve got to try to do that. I think all of the players are looking forward to putting on a performance and getting a result.

“It is a good time to play Hull but we’ve got to be wary of them because they will be fighting for every ball. We will have to do that as well because we’re in bigger trouble than them.

“We would happily be in their position now. It’s going to be a good game for the fans and everybody is looking forward to it.”

Thank Heaven Morrison and Robbo are available again. What’s the news on all our centre halves? Has Cech bounced at Celtic? Will he play for us then tomorrow? How will Villa get on with the Rob(ber) in black? Tomorrow should be fun. Is the match on computer? Too many questions> Let’s hear some answers.

Cyril – 1. All injured, Donk and Pele are touch and go too, but I think they’ll start tomorrow.
    2. Cech to Celtic is a no go
    3. Probably not, but if all of the centre backs are out then Mogga might have to play him CB or Robbo CB
    4. The Villa are loved by refs too, so they’ll be fine
    5. No idea about the Computer, sorry. My laptop was invented by Noah, just before he made the Ark, so I go to the matches instead of buying a new computer.

Cheers Nedball for the updates, I’ve been out of circulation for several days, (flu). Even your old laptop would work on some matches. Use CCleaner to keep it fast. I used to do most away matches up until about 5 years ago. Can’t stand the pace now. Change your name to EdBall and you could get a game today.
