First pictures of raid suspects
Friday 30th January 2009, 10:57PM GMT.
These are the first pictures of the four men police believe smashed a tractor into Wolverhampton’s Monmore Green stadium in a heist which netted up to £30,000.
The gang are seen lurking in the shadows of the Sutherland Avenue ground before they made off with a safe weighing several tonnes.
Ladbrokes, which owns the site, has put up a £5,000 reward for help in catching the thieves.
The raiders struck early last Wednesday (21). They broke through an external wall with a tractor, causing tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage to the building. The vehicle, which was stolen nearby, has been described as a tractor with a JCB-style bucket attacked to it. It was abandoned at the scene.
Today officers released this footage of the men they want to trace in connection with the raid. The images were captured at the ground and show four suspects walking around in the shadows.
Although the men’s faces are not visible on the footage, officers hope their distinctive clothing will give them away. One of the men is wearing a white hood. A second is wearing a jacket with the CAT logo on the back. A third is wearing a black jacket with a white stripe on it and the fourth suspect is wearing a black jacket with a white stripe on it.
Dog racing has been held as normal since the raid, which happened just after midnight on Wednesday last week.
The reward money is on offer for anyone who comes forward with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of people involved.
Anyone with information should call Wednesfield Police on 0845 113 5000. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
