Albion still want further additions

TRAINING 6 SL 18Albion still want another midfielder before Monday’s transfer deadline despite the imminent signing of youngster Youssuf Mulumbu.

The Baggies are poised to complete the signing of 22-year-old Mulumbu after agreeing a fee with Paris Saint Germain.

But manager Tony Mowbray still wants a new face to make an instant impact, after revealing Mulumbu is seen as a longer-term prospect.

The Hawthorns chief said: “The boy has got potential. I spoke to Paul Le Guen (PSG coach) earlier in the week and Paul likes him as a player. But he has got Claude Makelele and Jeremy Clement in front of him and he doesn’t feel as if he is going to get an opportunity.

“Paris Saint Germain have been suffering a bit in the last few years and Paul feels he needs to put experienced footballers on the pitch to get PSG where they belong. Youssuf is a young boy who is hungry but he is not ready to come and play in our team.

“He will play in our reserves and let’s hope we get a footballer somewhere down the line. He is not someone who is going to impact on our season at this moment.

“For a small fee Paul is happy to let us have Mulumbu, because he doesn’t see a future for the boy with the likes of Makelele in front of him.”

With Mulumbu set to be eased into the first team picture, Albion are hopeful of landing two more new signings to their squad before the transfer window closes on Monday, with a defensive midfielder still top of the manager’s wanted list.

Nigerian midfielder Christian Obodo remains on the radar, although Hawthorns sources say the club have several other irons in the fire.

I agree with no 1 We need some more quailty and as said the best chance of stopping up with 5-6 wins we would do it. A centre half on loan quiet a few with prem exper out there.

No 6. – Valero, is for me, the most improved player in our team, he is settling to the English game more and more every time I see him, I think he’ll prove to be worth every penny.
As for the situation with Carson, he is still young and inexperienced, just needs games, problem been we’re the wrong end of the table to have too many mistakes from him!!! Would Kiely be better for a run in the team…im not sure.

Hello Ryan – I wasn’t aware that Ebanks-blake played in goal… or even in midfield, but as a wolves fan you would know better than me.

Well done on loving your mom – big-up to the moms !!!!!

Each time the January transfer window comes around, when Albion are in the premier league they don’t splash the cash on new player’s only once I recall when Bryan Robson was there did we buy a player. I don’t know weather this is a good thing wise decision or you already know we are relegated back to the championship ?

It dont sound like Malumbu is coming to the
    Albion WHAT A SURPRISE!
Why the hell would he want to leave a club like
PSG just to be playing in our reserve team.
Surely he`s got to be better than Chris Brunt!

The next two games will seal our fate. If we can muster 4 points minimum out of Hull and Newcastle, I will believe that we have a chance. Carson gives me no confidence though and I feel that Kiely should be given a chance to get his #1 shirt back. If Carson was offered a contract extension, he would drop it!
