Quashie: Supporters hold the key

Midfielder Nigel Quashie insists Wolves fans are ready to roar the team out of their worst run of the season as they seek a tonic in the Championship run-in.
Wolves return to Molineux for two games in three days against struggling opposition, starting with Saturday’s clash against Watford followed by the visit of Norwich on Tuesday.
Some of the Molineux masses are becoming concerned at the team’s run of five games without a win which has cut their lead at the top to two points. But former Albion midfielder Quashie believes supporters have learned the lessons of past failures and will provide the right backing.
He said: “The fans aren’t stupid. The way they’re supporting us shows they’ve realised over time from previous promotion near-misses that we need their support, because they know we’ve got a tough few months to go.
“They’re not jumping up and down – they realise it’s a young team. The fans are getting nervous, but they’re good supporters who want us to do well. I’ve played against Wolves twice this season and the response they have towards their team is something you have to accept and be able to handle.
“So I’m pleased with how they were with me and it just makes me feel as though I want to give something back because I’ve played for some of their rivals.”
Quashie is trying to help the players recover their winning form.
He added: “I’ve told the players they’re fantastic and they’ve got an opportunity to play in the top flight. To see a team of young players at the top of the league, they’ve got to have every ounce of confidence about them.”
