With the UK suffering hundreds of drownings per year, lifeguards both indoors and on the shores play an vital role in securing public safety.
Based at Haden Hill Leisure Centre in Cradley Heath, North Worcester Lifeguard Club, founded in 1970, covers all aspects of lifesaving, including regional, national, European and World title competitions.
Video Journalist Nicky Butler went to witness an example of a real rescue demonstration and find out more about the lifesavers and their important role around water.
