Palmer hands in transfer request

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has confirmed Chris Palmer has asked for a transfer, but hopes to change the winger’s mind.
The 25-year-old wants to go on the transfer list at the Banks’s Stadium despite the Saddlers exercising an option to keep him until the end of the season.
Rumours emerged at the start of the week about Palmer’s position after he reportedly held talks with football consultant Paul Taylor and was unable to negotiate a wage increase. As a result, Palmer, who played in last night’s 3-2 defeat at Swindon Town, has asked to leave and Hutchings wants to resolve the issue.
Hutchings said: “Chris had a six-month contract with a six-month option and we’ve taken that option up. He wants a little bit more than that and wants to go on the transfer list, so that’s the situation.
“He’s got his reasons and I’ve just come into the club to pick up the mantle of trying to sort this out. I’m in a position where I’m assessing all the players and hopefully we’ll get it sorted out.”
Palmer’s initial deal was set to expire on Saturday and he has yet to sign registration forms for his extension. Failure to do so will mean he will be unavailable for the visit of Leeds on Saturday. If Palmer leaves before Monday’s transfer deadline it will leave the Saddlers desperately short of players.

Just get rid of him. Because he was Mullen’s first name on the team sheet, he thinks he’s better than he is.

Unbelievable…
In the summer when nobody else wanted to touch you Palmer, we offered you a deal (god knows why, as you’ve proved a defensive liability, the only positive attribute is you can take a decent set piece), and you’ve got the nerve to ask for a transfer.
For once, I wouldn’t blame a set of fans for booing their own player as you’ll get it on Saturday I expect and rightly so.
We should have let you rot in the summer instead as you obviously weren’t bowled over with offers if you were accepting 6 months off us!
