Wolves midfielder Mark Davies has completed his move to Premier League Bolton for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at the Reebok Stadium.
Davies’ contract at Molineux was set to expire this summer and the midfielder had slapped in a transfer request, despite Wolves’ offer of a new deal.
The club had already received bids from Bolton and Leicester, reportedly of £650,000 and £300,000 respectively.
But the Molineux club have already driven the price beyond £1million, with add-ons to the deal believed to be the starting point for negotiations.
There had been another Premier League club interested as well as Bolton, but not Wigan, as has been reported.
Davies was recalled from his two-month loan spell at Leicester on Friday and missed their 4-1 win over Huddersfield on Saturday.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: “We’ve had him at this club for over 10 years and we always recognised he was an exceptional talent, so to say we were disappointed with his transfer request is an understatement.
“We offered him a really good three and a half year contract on really good money, but he’s said he wants to leave come what may.
“He’s been injured on and off for over two years and we sent him on loan to a really good club to get matchday experience, which he needed in order for him to come back and compete for a place in our team.
“We’ve had numerous meetings with him, his dad and his agent – we’ve done so much to persuade him to stay, but he wanted to leave.”
Asked about the fee, Moxey said: “It’s club policy not to reveal financial details if and when we do deals.”
Davies was regarded as a comparable talent to Robbie Keane coming through Wolves’ Academy.
But McCarthy said: “I’ve seen glimpses of his ability but I think Oldham in an FA Cup replay (16 January 2007) was the last time he really contributed to the first team.”

WHAT A SAD SHAME!
Absolute shame he doesn’t ant to say. We miss the combination of tireless running and creativity in midfield and thats somehting he definately brings. However that being said if the fella wants to leave so be it. We just need Moxey to get the best deal for wolves now (something he has conssitantly done) INCLUDING A SELL ON FEE and we’ll hoepfully use the money to re-invest in a decent centre half. Mr Mancienne if you ever read these blogs please leave chelsea and come play for us :-) Shot in the dark i know but you never can tell!
Overall a shame that you want to go sparky but if you feel like being disloyal and leaving the team who have paid your wages for two years whilst you’ve been out injured then good ridance is all i’ll say.
Hope you don’t come back to haunt us (though you probably will)

Let him go. If he doesn’t want to stay get a good fee plus a good sell on clause. Very dissapointing as he could have been an excellent player for us. Lets move on now and look to the future.

gutted!
Well, you can’t blame him. Good luck Mark, I’m sure most Wolves fans will keep an affectionate eye on his career, just like Keane’s & Lescott’s.
Let’s face it, he’s not likely to get a look in at Wolves anyway.
good player, probably the best midfielder we have at the club, the fact a premier taem want to sign him, he’s obviously gonna get more cash, but considering wolves have looked after him the last two years while he has been out injured, it just goes to show even though he is a wolves fan, money has once again taken over loyalty, having said all that mark, you are a very good footballer all the best.
Obviously needed encouragement after injury and we sent him out on loan knowing that his contract was up this summer.Strange, considering that we need a creative midfielder.Good luck to him.
What do they expect when we bring in inferior players and send one of our best young players out on load when he should be in our first team
Report abuse
I know who out of Davies and Quashie I would prefer in midfield. I am not sure how much wolves have tried to keep the player. Its not always about money but how much you feel wanted!
Personally, im glad. He was a young player on good money but was never fully fit here at Wolves. He has only played a handful of games for Wolves since being here as a kid. He is only as good as what we have already, so £2m? i would take it today! Good luck Mark, but sorry mate, it just didnt work out for you!
Interesting that Bolton have come in and he’s slapped in a transfer request.
I’m not convinced there haven’t been a couple of discreet words in the player’s ear, especially considering the link with Chris Evans being up at The Reebok.
It is a shame because I think he is a superb prospect, but if he wants to leave, and the fact he’s out of contract in the summer, leaves us with no choice.
Another example of how player’s hold the real power now in football.
Instead of offering him money, you should have offered him football..iff you thought he was such an excptionall tallent, why were you looking to bring in other players befor him,you even let Leicester play him in the cup, making him cup tied.I dont blame him for telling you to stick it,but at least have the decency to hold your hands up,not try and make it look like the lad didnt want to play for us..The reason hes going is you didnt want him,and he wants to play football..good luck to him.
Why are people being saying ‘can’t blame him’ and blaming the club – in my eyes it`s a disgrace that someone we’ve nurtured and stood by over 2 years of injury turns round and says he wants to leave – Billy big time in my opinion. Yeh, good player and i`m happy with £2mil if we get that but how bout showing some loyalty!
Muppet Mick has drove a good player out by not giving him a chance
Report abuse
more like show me the money!! what a waste of a 10 year investment, obviously got big headed from all the hype and was no prepared to show MM he was fit enough for the championship! Shame really hope the jug eared pig has a nice big fall from grace
Report abuse
Davies should have been given a chance earlier. Mick never fancied him coz he wasn’t one of his own. I bet the contract they offered him wasn’t that good! To a certain extent I don’t blame him but it’s a disgrace that we’re letting him go so easily. This is an oversight on Mick and the boards part especially when we need another creative midfielder.
8 – Encouragement? As soon as he was fit we tried to get him some first team football. Only a fool would think he was going to walk straight back into the table topping first team. He was given the chance to get games not bench warming practice. Wolves stood by him through serious injuries (and rumours of an active social life), offered him a new contract and he repays us by handing in a transfer request. As the Stoke fans banner for Kris Commons read – “You’re just a fat greedy judas”!
Wondered how long it would be before someone blamed Mick (10. Roy). the kid has been injured best part of micks managerial reign. We send him out to get his fitness up and then a premier league club comes in for him. Mark D obviously wants to play in the prem shame he couldnt play in the prem for us.
A shame because you so much good said about him, however 2 key factors here for me.
1. Don’t want to stay with the club
2. keeps getting injured.
Let’s move on!
Mad mick has once again overlooked a great footballer in preference to somebody who will put a shift in!
Get MM out!
The only muppet is every person on here who thinks that someone with 2 years out through serious injuries can waltz back into a table topping midfield
Report abuse
Its obvious he as seen the pounds signs, Wolves have sent him out on loan to prove his fitness and offered a contract so turning it down shows the type of person he is. He claims to be Wolves fan so you would expect him to try prove his worth at the club he supports.
The fact is he is injury prone and if 3million is on the cards we should bite there hands off.
Muppet Roy, should he of been playing him while he was injured then? He went out on loan to get match sharpness, which he has and then he slaps a transfer request in when he returns. He has spent 2 years collecting a good wage while being injured, a complete lack of loyalty and desire to break into the team has been shown by him. Unfortunate as I rated him as a prospect but I feel mentaly hes not up to the challenge, get what you can for him Moxey
Report abuse
why bolton there nowhere near as big as us,if he goes then good luck to him,but bolton, that makes us look like crewe now just selling our best players for money.
good go no loyalty hardly played for us got his money for nothing now he wants to go who wants someone like him anyway.
The club looked after this lad thorugh his rehabilitation, playing at Leicester was part of that. Also, MM stated that he wants Mark to stay ( why else would we offer a new contract ? ). No loyalty left in football, good riddance… theres only 1 famous Wanderers.
Seeing as my last comment wasn’t allowed, probably fair enough, I will just say that from what I have read from Mick and Jez it seems like they had high hopes for Mark and that’s why they have been willing to take time over his recovery and willing to loan him out, because they saw a long term future for him. But now he has thrown it back in our faces. GOOD RIDDANCE!
Any news on signings people???
why is some so called Wolves fans seem to blame everything on MM or the club, we stuck by this player for 2 yrs of injury, we are clear at the top of the league but you suggest we should drop one of the players that helped get us there for a player that as been injured for 2 yrs. he was obviously sent on loan to Leicester to get match fit, then shows no loyalty to the club that as payed his wages by putting in a transfer request. good riddance i say. try getting behind the players that are in the team and on the pitch. if MM would have put him straight in the first team and it didn’t work the same fans having a go would have said why didn’t he send him out on loan to get his match fitness. cant win with you lot.
If he wants to go, let him. Good contract offered to him but he still wants to go. He always showed potential but potential never won anything.
why are some guys blaming mick?
this bloke has been injured for the last 3 years and Mick has loaned him out to the best tema in league 1 to get some games. he puts a few good performances in for them and then says he wants to leave Wolves.
get shot of him mick at the best price with sell on clause because we dont players who dont want to play for the club and we dont want any big time charlies who put in transfer requests when they hear a premiership team is sniffing around.

Perhaps the writing has being on the wall since the carling cup second round. Sitting on the bench and seeing a transfer listed player in Potter being used ahead of him. I can’t blame really for leaving, the signing of Quashie probably inserted the final nail in his future here. I worry for other talented home grown players like Gleeson, Daniel Jones and Little. Apart from Hennessey and Ikeme there’s no other home grown talent in the side, they are all hungry as much as the other crop brought in. This really is a disgrace to the policy of ‘young and hungry’ spin, no other manager would of ignored the talents of Mark Davies as Mick McCarthy has, yes I know the lad has had injuries but when fit and ready he has been stuck on the fringes. The stupid move here is that we selling too a premier league club, if Davies becomes a great success which I believe he will then the level TV and media courage is going to echo back on Mick and the club. Championship commentators and pundits will no doubt be talking about Davies, the top sport journalist perhaps and sooner or later the Sky sports soccer Saturday panel and Match of Day. It will be sad to see him score goals for Bolton from a fans perspective, but good luck to him; I hope you prove the club and Mick wrong.
What’s the point of the Academy? We send out these youngsters to the lower leagues on loan, they do well and we don’t use them in the first team? Most of our shopping of players has come from the lower leagues, what’s difference in the players Mick? You can’t have one rule for the one and not the other.
How can people say we’ve not given him a chance! He’s been injured most of the time sice he’s had a fully time contract! Remember sparky did play in pre-season games and MM was pleased with him but got injured again! Like moxey said he went to leicester to get Competitive games under his belt, not friendlies at compton! So when he was 100% fit and upto match speed he could come back and challenge for a place here. Lets face it we dont want players playing that are not 100% match fit. As for him going-yes it is a shame BUT if we get promoted he wouldnt play anyway as im sure henry, edwards, quashie &jones may find out!
Well said 14 ! We have shown loyalty to him and he wants out , which is fair enough. He doesn’t get on with certain players at Wolves and they don’t get on with him. This is a good deal for everyone. Good luck Mark is all I can say but I fear he will ALWAYS be injury prone.
There’s no way this kid is a wolves supporter! He used to support Man Utd until we signed him up as a kid. We’ve paid him 2 yrs money for sitting on his backside and this is how he repays us. It’s not as if he’s 30 and needs to move on as this is not the only chance he will have of playing in the topflight! Mark the Rat Davies!!!
We got better value out of Henri Camara!
A lot of people aren’t happy because of the loyalty Wolves have shown etc etc. We need to focus on now and who is coming in instead?
Theres the old saying ”no one player is bigger than the club”, although they like to think they are!! Sign of the times i’m afraid, MONEY TALKS, THE PLAYER WALKS.
He’s gone, move on !!!
What is it with some of our fans?
This guy turned pro with Wolves 5 years ago and has made less than 40 first team appearances!
Cost us nothing and we WILL get good money for him as Jez will see to that, sounds like good business to me for a player who is very injury prone.
It’s a bit like the Freddie brigade last season, we don’t know what’s gone on behind the scenes and it’s pretty obvious he’s not in Mick’s plans.
Wish him well and move on, HE put in a transfer request after all.

Great shame,I saw him play for leicester on the box and he looks quality now he is fit.I am also dissapointed he has chosen to go to Bolton (if it is them) 17k gates and happy with mid table obscurity in the prem each year. They could go down this year!!

I am behind my club and any player that wants out can go aslong as it suits wolverhampton wanderers in terms of finance. 2 mil, lets go and get mancienne for 3mil on a permanent deal.
