Teenager critical after attack

A teenager was fighting for his life today after being attacked in a notorious Black Country street that has been plagued by murders and violence.
The 18-year-old suffered life-threatening head injuries in Wolverhampton’s Broad Street.
The attack, that involved a number of people, took place at 3am yesterday.
The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and transferred to New Cross Hospital for emergency surgery. His condition was today described as critical but stable.
Broad Street, which has been the scene of two fatal stabbings in the past six months was sealed off until 2.40pm yesterday while police investigated.
No arrests have yet been made.
West Midlands Police spokeswoman Catherine Preece said today: “The incident is not believed to be a stabbing or a shooting.”
In August, 21-year-old Marlon Morris was stabbed to death there.
In October, Ann-Marie Kamilla Parkes was killed as a result of being stabbed.
