New duo tipped as England strikeforce
Monday 26th January 2009, 11:00AM GMT.
New recruit Emile Heskey and Gabby Agbonlahor can be the future front pairing for England – not just for Villa.
That is the view of Villa defender Zat Knight, who believes £3.5million signing Heskey and Agbonlahor have all the attributes to hit it off as a partnership.
The pair, who have 51 England caps between them, could link up together for the first time at Portsmouth, with Heskey expected to make his debut.
Knight believes they could soon find themselves lining up alongside each other for their country too.
He said: “Hopefully, if the two of them can click together, that could be the future for England. Emile has the qualities of John Carew and Gabby built into one. He is quick, he is good in the air and he can score goals.
“His signing is a massive boost for us.”

“he’s quick, good in the air and can score goals”
odd that he hasn’t then isn’t it?
I can’t understand this fuss about Emile “the mattress” Heskey, he has never been a goalscorer however seemed to get into the England setup purely because there were no other options at the time, thinking he is going to stay in the England team due to his “impressive” tally of 3 goals in 27 games is moronic.
I appreciate Emile hold the ball up well and provides a lot of support to the main striker however I don’t see his performances on the pitch as anything out of the ordinary

heskey has ben playing brilliantly for Wigan, his hold up play was one of the keys to their recent success.
Also did’nt you see the last couple of England games, he was on fire.
I never used to like him, but you cant deny his recent form.
