Action plea over uneven slabs

Monday 26th January 2009, 11:27AM GMT.

Dangerously uneven and broken paving slabs are making life treacherous for people in Bewdley, residents claim.

Residents say slabs in Wassell Drive and All Saints Avenue, Wribbenhall, which were laid 50 years ago have become displaced.

People say they fear the slabs have deteriorated to such an extent that they are now a hazard and are concerned about others tripping over them. They add that the main danger is to young children or frail pensioners who could be seriously injured if they were to fall.

Residents have also complained about a lack of lighting along an alleyway at the rear of homes in All Saints Avenue and Wassell Drive.

They say the passage is pitch black during the evening.

Residents have raised two petitions, one with 12 names and another with 11, calling for action by Wyre Forest Community Housing.
