Villa endured another disappointing visit to Doncaster today as they drew a blank at the Keepmoat Stadium in the FA Cup fourth round Tie.
The Claret and Blues, who suffered a humiliating Carling Cup defeat to Rovers in 2005, suffered a frustrating afternoon in South Yorkshire despite Martin O’Neill naming his strongest side possible.
Villa were a far cry from a side chasing a spot in the Champions League and were out-played by the relegation threatened championship side in the first half.
Although they improved in the second period Gabby Agbonlahor and Steve Sidwell both wasted great opportunities to put Villa into the last 16.
They must now do it all again at Villa Park a week on Wednesday.

Told you they wouldnt be a pushover, dont be fooled by their league position, Doncaster are a good side.
The Blues have to go there soon, I’m backing them to come away empty handed.
