Live updates from the Keepmoat Stadium as Villa go to Championship side Doncaster in the FA Cup fourth round.
16.54: Final whistle. Villa have not looked like a side chasing a Champions League position and will have to do it again a week on Wednesday, reports Brendan McLoughlin from the match. Villa fans, get those comments in.
16.48: After the excitement of the last couple of months, Villa are having a frustrating afternoon in South Yorkshire.
16.43: Petrov shoots over. Villa have not put the Donny keeper under enough pressure this afternoon.
16.40: Who is writing the script for this afternoon? Agbonlahor has a headed effort from close in and clears the bar.
16.38: Gardner on for Reo-Coker.
16.34: Sidwell somehow misses a header from six yards. He then plays Agbonlahor clear through but the forward contrives to hit the crossbar. Our man at the ground is baffled as to how Villa are not ahead. Could they be made to pay for their misses.
16.20: Club record signing Milner is having an afternoon to forget, according to our man, but his free kick is smartly saved by keeper Sullivan.
16.12: Woods fires over from outside the box for the home side.
16.05: Second half gets under way.
15.51: Half time. Villa have not made the breakthrough they would have been hoping for. O’Neill will be demanding more from his players during the half time team talk. If it gets to 75 minutes without a Villa goal, they may start to show some nerves despite their strong recent away results. ‘Arry and Fergie may not be bothered but we all know the type of shocks that the Cup can serve up!
15.40: Friedel saves from Woods. Villa are making hard work of this considering the quality of the side Martin O’Neill has put out today, says Brendan at the game.
15.33: Former Leeds, Spurs and Wimbledon keeper Neil Sullivan saves from Agbonlahor. His reflex block stopped a seemingly certain goal.
15.30: Milner and Petrov both miss the target with hopeful efforts.
15.28: Gareth Barry is effectively playing as a second striker, in a more advanced role than usual, with Villa switching their formation slightly to put pressure on the bouyant home side.
15.25: Coppinger tries his luck from distance to no avail, sending it high and over, as the home side try to find an opener. Cuellar is lucky not to be booked for a heavy challenge.
15.14: Agbonlahor’s pace is asking serious questions of the Doncaster defence, says our man at the game Brendan McLoughlin. Nigel Reo-Coker fires over the bar from inside the six-yard box after a cross by in-form Gabby.
15.10: Agbonlahor shoots wide from just outside the box, while Roberts misses the target at the other end from inside the area.
15.05: The action is under way. Remember, Gareth Barry is a booking away from a ban. Villa will want to stamp their mark on this early on to prevent the home side building any momentum.
