Bonser: New boss has transfer control
Saturday 24th January 2009, 11:04AM GMT.
Walsall boss Chris Hutchings will have the final say on Saddlers transfers – chairman Jeff Bonser has stressed.
Bonser insists Hutchings will decide who comes and who goes and revealed football consultant Paul Taylor wants to quit the game by the end of the season.
Supporters have sometimes questioned the extent of Taylor’s influence at the Banks’s Stadium, but Bonser insists Hutchings will have absolute control in transfer dealings.
The chairman said: “It is down to Chris, but he has to work within the budget and with the board. He knows at the moment he can’t buy a player anyway without moving things around.
“If Chris finds a player and he wants Paul to negotiate with the agent to save him wasting two days on it, then that’s what will happen.”
Bonser revealed this week the Saddlers are facing a £350,000 deficit and Hutchings would need to sell to before he could bring any players in to a desperately thin squad.

Why is it that when Walsall get a transfer fee they say they cant disclose the fee because it would alert other clubs as to how much money they have to spend, and yet in this article bonser has basically told clubs to come and and get who they like because they are desperate for money.

What happened to the money that the club received for Fox and Dann? I don’t recall any of it being spent on new players….
