Why Gow’s move broke down – Mick
Monday 12th January 2009, 2:11PM GMT.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has revealed Alan Gow failed his medical because of a tear in his hamstring.
Gow’s £250,000 move from Rangers was shelved after a ‘biomechanical’ problem showed up in the 26-year-old’s tests.
Rangers have seen the medical reports and say there is a problem in Gow’s hip. They claim Wolves declared it could lead to a hamstring problem.
McCarthy has ruled out a loan move for the player, because he reckons Gow wants to have the problem corrected now.
The Molineux boss said: “What we know is that his power was down on his hamstring and we had a scan done on it. He’s got a tear on it which we know will require treatment and surgery. He won’t need it now – he could carry on playing.
“But if I was to buy a new BMW and the engine’s rattling, it might be OK now, but if I was to drive down to Bromley with the wife and kids and it breaks down, that’s great isn’t it?
“Alan knows this because I’ve sat him down and told him – I’ve tried to sign him before and why, having got him here and done the medical, would I not do it?
“There would have to be a pretty good reason wouldn’t there?”

I would hardly call Gow a BMW. Maybe if we were looking at players of a BMW quality then we would have something to be optimistic about.
At the moment were looking a very tired side, bringing in quality and experience is the only way, but is it Moxey’s way, I’m not sure.
