Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Morrison happy to stay at Albion

Albion star James Morrison has broken his silence on Bolton’s bid for his services and insisted he is committed to the Baggies.
The midfielder, who hopes to return from injury the derby against Villa, is flattered by the £3million bid from former Hawthorns boss Gary Megson, but insists he is “very happy” with the Baggies.
He said: “It’s been well documented that Bolton made an unsuccessful bid for me last week. It’s always nice when someone recognises what you’ve been doing.
“But I’m really happy to stay here and I love playing for the Albion. Hopefully, I can be here for many years. Bolton’s interest hasn’t distracted me and I’m fully focused on playing for this club.”
Albion turned down Bolton’s initial offer and Megson now seems to have turned his attentions to alternative targets.
Morrison is instead facing a crucial final training session ahead of the Villa Park derby, as he looks to prove his fitness after a fortnight out with a groin injury.
He said: “I missed the FA Cup tie against Peterborough on Saturday with a sore groin but I trained yesterday and it seemed fine, so I’m very hopeful I’ll be fit to face Villa.
“My availability now depends on me coming through this training session, so I’m keeping everything crossed I don’t suffer any reaction.”
The former Middlesbrough man also believes a derby win at Villa would help Albion maintain the momentum from their recent improvement.
He said: “The fans can see we are putting the effort in and we’ve given them something to cheer about. Hopefully, we can build on that.
“There would be nothing better than scoring against Villa and getting three points.
“When I scored against then in September’s derby at The Hawthorns, we were already 2-0 down, so it was just a case of getting the ball back on the centre-spot as quickly as possible.”
