Focus on your home form – Davies
Friday 9th January 2009, 12:40PM GMT.
Villa defender Curtis Davies has warned ex-employers Albion to forget about victory at Villa Park tomorrow – and focus on their home form.
The Baggies have won just once on their travels all season and their record of three goals away from the Hawthorns is equally underwhelming. Only Fulham’s is worse.
It is in stark contrast to Villa, who have already won seven times on the road this season – more than they managed in the entire of last season.
But the Premier League’s bottom side have given themselves hope of another escape, with victories in their last two home games over Manchester City and Tottenham. Their return of four home wins matches Villa’s at present – but Davies aims to change that.
He said: “Albion have picked it up a little bit and they’ll be looking to cause an upset, because they need to push up the league. It’s tough to win away in the Premier League. The main thing for West Brom is winning their home games.
“We don’t want them to come to us and cause an upset by taking points off us. We are in good form ourselves and we need to be on our game.”
