Now for Lindgren roars Wolves owner
Thursday 8th January 2009, 6:04AM GMT.
Wolves have confirmed the signing of Nicolai Klindt and left speedway club owner Chris Van Straaten declaring – “now for Freddie Lindgren.”
Klindt’s deal wrapped up an all-action 48 hours for the Danish rider.
He rode in the New Year Classic at Poole on Sunday, sealed his first British sponsorship deal with Lichfield firm T. Turner Autos Ltd the following day and rounded it all off on Tuesday by signing a 2009 Wolves contract.
Van Straaten said: “We can confirm the deal with Nic. He’s very happy.”
With just two team spots now remaining, Van Straaten is ticking off the days to the return from a holiday in Thailand of Lindgren, last year’s Monmore captain.
He said: “We just obviously need to try and confirm everything with Freddie at the weekend. He’s due back on the 10th (Saturday) and will probably be jet-lagged, so I shall try to contact him the day after that.
“Then we can move forward on the last place in the team.”
That final place, with just over four points to play with under the Elite League team building ceiling, has prompted widespread speculation among supporters.
Former Wolf William Lawson, who rode for the Monmore side in 2006 and the following year, was under consideration to step up from the Premier League.
But the Scot has opted to stay in the sport’s second tier for at least one more season by signing with Berwick, leaving the guessing game to continue.
