Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Gow will offer Wolves new option
Tuesday 6th January 2009, 12:51PM GMT.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy believes the arrival of Alan Gow will offer his side a different dimension up front.
Gow is expected to complete a £250,000 move from Rangers in the next day or so, after talks between Wolves and the player and his agent.
The arrival of the 26-year-old will complete an 18-month long chase by McCarthy, who tried to sign Gow from Falkirk in summer 2007.
He believes he will add an exciting addition to his frontline options.
McCarthy said: “We tried to sign him from Falkirk 18 months ago. He can play up front or anywhere along the front line and he’s different to what we’ve got.
“He’s a left-footer and technically very good – he someone that can see a pass, deliver a pass and he’s started to make a couple of goals in the Championship. He’s a good, clever footballer – he knows how to handle the ball, accept the ball and use it very well.”
Gow’s arrival means Wolves have five forwards and McCarthy wants to add as many good players as he can this month.
He said: “At the end of January, we’ve got three months of the season left. It would be nice to have as many good players as we possibly can, to give us the best possible chance of staying in the position we’re in.”
