Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon and comedian Ross Noble are among the stellar line-up which has been revealed for Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre this year.
The venue’s star-studded bill for 2009 includes a number of household names as well as some of the country’s leading musicals and dramas.
Welsh actor and comedian Brydon is appearing on stage on Wednesday, April 22. Brydon, who also starred as a cab driver in Marion and Geoff, will bringing his new stand-up comedy act to the Lichfield Street venue.
The comic has appeared in the city before, at both the Wulfrun and Civic Hall, but it is his first appearance at the Grand and tickets are expected to be snapped up thanks to his soaring popularity. Geordie stand-up comedian Ross Noble, who was voted in the top ten in a poll of the 100 greatest stand-ups by Channel Four in 2007, is also performing in the city.
Noble, who lives in Australia, rose to mainstream popularity by making a number of TV appearances on celebrity quiz shows such as Have I Got News For You. He also released several DVDs of his stand-up tours.
The 32-year-old will appear on stage in Ross Noble Things on Thursday, March 26.
TV medium Sally Morgan is stopping off at the Grand Theatre on Friday, March 27 during her first UK tour. An Audience with Sally Morgan will include the psychic, who has her own ITV2 show Sally Morgan: Star Psychic, doing a number of readings for members of the audience. Sally has read for a number of celebrities including George Michael, Uma Thurman, former Spice Girl Mel B and even royalty, when she worked for the late Princess Diana for several years.
The theatre’s programme of musicals in 2009 includes Fame, which is being performed from January 27 to 31. The smash-hit dance musical has been seen by more than five million theatre goers in the UK. One of the biggest coups for the theatre is securing big-name musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which flies into the city for two weeks in August, with a 100-strong cast, including 10 dogs and extravagant sets. It is not yet known whether it will feature the flying car.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita is running from February 2 to 14. To book tickets for any of the shows, log onto www.grandtheatre.info or call the box office on 01902 429212.
