Masked raiders in shop raid

Thursday 1st January 2009, 11:32AM GMT.

Three masked robbers stole of cash from a store near Brownhills.

The thieves walked into the Co-op, in Clayhanger Lane, Clayhanger, and told the staff they had a firearm and a knife. Police said one of the offenders jumped over the counter and forced a member of staff to open the till.

They escaped with an undisclosed quantity of cash. It is believed they may have used a BMW 3 series to flee the scene.

No weapons were seen.

The offender who jumped over the counter was described as a black man, 6ft 3ins tall, local accent, slim build, wearing a black anorak with a hood and a bandana on his face.

The second man was described as white, aged late teens to early 20s, wearing a grey top with a hood and blue gloves.

The third was described as white, wearing a padded ‘puffa’ style jacket with a hood and black tracksuit bottoms with a distinctive circular emblem on the right knee.

The member of staff was not injured but was was shaken as a result of the incident.
