Jenita to get holiday of a lifetime

JENITA1 MT28A 10-year-old girl fighting a brain tumour will be able to go away on a holiday of a lifetime thanks to the generosity of people from Staffordshire.

Jenita Khadoo, of Colombian Crescent, Burntwood, is currently undergoing chemotherapy for an inoperable brain tumour and has been diagnosed with three since February.

The Fulfen Primary School pupil’s one wish was to go to Disneyland Paris but because of her condition she cannot fly and insurance costs were too high.

But thanks to generous donations and various fundraising events including a Halloween party, sponsored headshaves and leg-waxing the family has enough money to send Jenita to Disneyland Paris and to Spain.

Her cousin, Selina Revill, said that they were planning the trip to Disneyland for her birthday in May because she would just be finishing her chemotherapy.

She added that they also had enough money to send her on holiday to Spain in July as well.

Ms Revill said: “We just want to thank everyone for their generosity.

“Everyone’s money is going to be used, as we said, for her holiday.

“Everything is going fine at the moment she’s no better but no worse. She’s started the chemo again so she’s in and out of Birmingham Children’s Hospital having that done.” After Ms Revill organised a sponsored hair shave in September at The Cottage of Content pub, Queen Street, donations came flooding in from Burntwood and beyond.

One couple from Norton Canes, Gerry and Kathleen Powis, gave up their holiday for their golden wedding anniversary to the US, Mexico and the Bahamas after reading her story in the Express & Star in October.

Mrs Powis, of Chapel Street, was diagnosed with cervical cancer but instead of getting their money back, they decided to send Jenita and her family in their place on the dream trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, then onto Mexico followed by a three-day cruise around the Bahamas.

Ms Revill said if Jenita is given the all-clear she should be going on the trip in 2010.
