Stourbridge leisure centre reopens

Monday 29th December 2008, 11:22AM GMT.

Stourbridge’s Crystal Leisure Centre is open for fitness fans again after almost a month of closure for £60,000 repairs.

The Bell Street centre re-opened on Saturday for the first time since it shut its doors on December 8.

The Crystal centre also pool re-opened on Saturday following the vital repairs to the pool tank, poolside and changing areas, wave machine, lights, wall and flooring.

Workers are also revamping the gym as part of an £800,000 overall facelift. Swimmers had been using Halesowen Leisure Centre or Coseley swimming pool for their workouts.

Dudley Leisure Centre in Wellington Road also closed for three weeks on December 15 and will not open again until January 2, 2009.

The move has led Dudley Council to offer reduced monthly payments to customers with annual membership at the centres.
