Alex McLeishBirmingham are now six points adrift of Championship leaders Wolves after defeat at Preston.

Sub Jon Parkin got the only goal of the game after ariving in the 78th minute, latching on to a Ross Wallace ball in stoppage time to fire home.

Under-par Blues’ best chance to score came on the hour.

It fell to Kevin Phillips, who headed straight at Preston goalkeeper Andy Lonregan when very well placed.

    Now they will be sweating having to play reading this saturday. Either a draw or maybe a blues win as Wolves are trying to put as much daylight as possible between us and 3rd place.If Blues go up expect Phillips to sign for Coventry as he dosent want premiership football.

    reading should thrash birmingham city on saturday. they are the best team to come to the wolves this season.
    still waiting to hear jarome’s excuses for
    saturdays loss at preston. seeing that he
    likes to do his talking off the pitch.
    alex’s dogs is in for a rough time come 2.30pm on saturday when they lose again.
