I won’t walk away – Mowbray
Friday 12th December 2008, 12:52PM GMT.
Boss Tony Mowbray insists he has no intention of walking away from the challenge of trying to keep Albion in the Barclays Premier League.
The Baggies face a crucial bottom-three clash at Sunderland, whose manager Roy Keane quit last week.
But Mowbray is determined to stick with Albion to try and inspire them to their first win in 10 games when they visit the Stadium Of Light, in what has become a must-win clash for his side.
The former Hibernian manager said: “Is there any temptation to walk away? It is not at the forefront of my mind at the moment to walk away from anything. I am enjoying my job.
“Results obviously could be better. But I enjoy coming into work and the players motivate you.
“They have certainly not got their chins on the ground; they enjoy coming in and working towards putting a gameplan together to try and win the next game.
“We are enjoying the task of trying to pick up points in the Premier League. I have got no thoughts of going anywhere and am just getting on with my job and enjoying that.”
Mowbray is adamant Albion are not far away from being a side who can make an impact in the top flight, despite taking only two points from a possible 27 since early October and being rooted to the foot of the league table.
He said: “I don’t enjoy losing football matches, of course. You get used to winning, which we did a lot last season. The vast majority of the games we have played have been very tight games.
“I’ve talked long and hard about what we are missing, a bit of cutting edge, a bit of ability to finish teams off when we are on top.
“When I look at the statistics and we have created twice as many opportunities as the opposition, yet lost a tight game 2-1 or 1-0, then there is a frustration there.
“But it is enjoyment mixed with frustration. I hope, looking at the second half of the season, we can address the few areas we need to address and make life uncomfortable for a lot of teams in the Premier League.”

I said last year that TM siging that new contract was the best bit of business we did all year.
Unlike some, i don’t change my opinions based on 90 minutes and then back again the following match – I believe that Mowbray is creating a team worth watching, who play good football, and who, given the right players can make us a force in this league.
If we don’t get the right players and get relegated, we will still be a team worth watching who play good football.
He has proven he can win the CCC – he now needs the time and support (and money) to establish us in the prem.

Of course he won’t walk – he wouldn’t get the pay off would he? he’s gonna have to be sacked and the sooner the better so we can start playing to win instead of sticking to pretty but losing football!

Oh-No, not another `must win´ game. Anybody want to have an educated guess as to how many more of our games this season will be classed this way.I reckon all of them; if things go well.

Terry – sorry to post on your board offering support and posivitity, maybe next time I sohuld take a leaf out of your book and spout nonsense and bile instead. You would probably understand that better!
Re Cyril – lol! Sorry, was in a bit of a rush when typing that, hence the ‘yoof’ abbreviations!… and thankyou for making me feel young, although at 31 I’m no spring chicken I must admit!!!

Costa Blanca Baggie, I’ve been looking for someone over here to have a laugh with. Where will you be on Jan 10th ? Should be a great day for a laugh. There’s loads of Villa fans over here who’d love to buy you a drink and talk about the game. If that Terry’s allowed out of the country, bring him with you, he,s really funny.

“Taxi for Mowbray….. And can you do a local on the way and drop Terry off please”
Clearly there’s no way of conversing with an idiot! Especially one who claims not to post on the Wolves board when everyone is fully aware of the absolute garbage he leaves each day.. don’t think you’re in much of a position to talk about attendances either Terry. What was your average attendance in the CCC last season?
Anyway, enough about that waste of skin..
With a bit of luck the Albion should manage to get a win tomorrow and be off the bottom of the table for Christmas – a Boxing Day trip to Stamford Bridge may make your turkey a little less palatable but keep the faith, things can only get better!

I hate the tagline “must win game” we never end up doing anything when matches are tagged like this. I have this down as a draw tomorrow. Sunderland won’t just lay down and die and we can’t finish. Right now I would settle for an abomination of a performance and one solitary goal in our favour.

Terry Vanday Baggie is such a pleb. He can’t even spell the manager’s name. He’s just bitter. My m8 is a Baggie and he says he knows him…he thinks he’s a pleb too! All Greg Cooper was doing was supporting u and being positive; that’s a lot more than you would get from most Terry! Cheer up eh…It’s Christmas!
