Man, 19, injured in road accident

A 19-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a van in Bewdley.
The accident happened in Load Street at 10.50pm yesterday.
It is thought the victim fell into the path of the van.
He was found unconscious outside the White Swan pub.
He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where staff in the trauma unit had been put on alert. He was later transferred to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham where he still being treated today.
A worker at the White Swan said: “It all happened in a second. He wasn’t in the pub but a few people in here saw what was happening and went outside.
“I didn’t see much as I was working behind the bar.
“Some people in here were shocked as you would be when something like this happens.”
West Mercia Police duty inspector Keith Gee said today the man had fallen off the kerb into the path of the red van.
He said: “He had neck injuries. It was thought at first that his injuries were serious but his condition is now more stable.”
Investigations are ongoing today into how the incident happened and witnesses are asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
