Moreton school head to quit

Thursday 27th November 2008, 11:38AM GMT.

A head who turned around a once-troubled Wolverhampton school has resigned after being suspended amid “serious issues.”

Tony Leach, of Moreton School, Bushbury, gave in his notice afer the governing body met last night.

Wolverhampton City Council spokeswoman Julia Corrigan said: “Tony believes it is time to step aside and for a new set of ideas and energy to enable the school to move on to even greater heights.

“The governors of the school and the local authority would like to place on record their thanks and recognition of Tony’s major contributions towards the school’s improvements during his headship and wish him well for the future.”

Mr Leach was suspended on November 21, but bosses refuse to reveal any details surrounding this.
