Young fans net a Shearer scoop

The former England and Newcastle United striker visited Wolverhampton as the star attraction at a dinner in the city.

Mark, whose father Steve helped organise the Shearer visit, and Adam got the opportunity to ask Shearer four questions for their Tettenhall College newspaper.

He said: “It was fantastic to meet Alan Shearer and I can’t wait to tell all my friends at school. He was really good to talk to.”

The boys got the scoop on who the Premier League record goalscorer rated as the best player he played with and against and which of his 409 career goals he regarded as his best.

In true newspaper style the boys were keeping quiet on their exclusive and said the answers will be in the next issue of the school paper.

Mark’s father Steve said: “They’re still walking around with stars in their eyes. I don’t think the boys will ever forget the night they met Alan Shearer. It was a wonderful experience for them.”

The player-turned-TV pundit entertained a 300-strong audience at the Ramada Park Hall Hotel.
