Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Keeper sets his date for return
Wednesday 19th November 2008, 11:26AM GMT.
Matt Murray has revealed his comeback target for Wolves – to end his 18-month first-team exile by December 9.
Murray is on loan at Hereford until December 6 when he returns to Molineux to compete for a first-team place following a year and a half out having his cruciate knee ligament reconstructed.
Wolves host Derby three days after Murray’s return and the 27-year-old former England hopeful wants to give boss Mick McCarthy a three-way dilemma by then.
“I’m at Hereford until December 6 when my loan spell is up and after that, who knows?” said Murray. “If I do get my chance, I’ve made sure I’ve trained well, done what I’ve done at Hereford and in reserve games so that I can take it.
“It’s going to be very hard to get in through Wayne or Carl losing form. You never know – it could be an injury, suspension illness, who knows? I just need to be ready to take it when I can.
“I wouldn’t want to get in the team like that, I just want to come back from Hereford knowing if I’m called upon, I’m ready.”
The former England under-21 international played his first game for the Bulls last Saturday and kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 win against Cheltenham.
Ineligible for the FA Cup, Murray can play a maximum of four League games there – this Saturday’s clash against Northampton, followed by MK Dons and a trip to Colchester.

Wolves and Englands NUMBER ONE.
For years to come.

If he comes back fit Number 1 by a mile, ikeme as the number 2, and sell wayne in january because 6million is good money for a keeper that can’t command his box.
1st choice keeper
but how does he dislodge ikeme? and then if ikeme dropped/injured/banned is hennessey going to get 1st chance? because he be royally pi$$ed off if murray replaces him

Murray number 1!! Carl you will give him a run for his money tho. Wayne lets cash in on you.

definately no.1 he is a different class to ikeme and wayne – I would not like to lose wayne but can’t see him sitting on the bench for long.
whats the news about blackstock?

as wolves fans we all know murray is by far the best keeper at wolves, his commanding of the area he,s vocal his shot stopping his whole presence gives the defence confidence he could walk into virtually any premiership team and command the no1 spot,if he can stay fit now he will reclaim the no1 jersey at wolves but not without a fight from ikeme who by the way is doing a superb job, what a position to be in though with 3 top keepers which no other club can claim to have, goodluck to all 3 and may the best man win,WE ARE WOLVES

our best keeper no question

Should be up to Golden Palace for a couple of games in December, it would be soooo great to see Matt back between the sticks. And when he does, I’m going to dedicate his performance to my friend Claire who died just over a year ago. Bless her, we worked for a disability company and had set up a confidence building course run at the Molineux and when Matt came in on crutches (with his first injury) she tried to direct him to the room it was being held in. He said he’d like to take part but he was on his way to the physio!! Come on lads, keep up the good work.

Let’s not get carried away.
Matt Murray is at least 2 months away from playing in the Championship and extending his loan spell by a further month at Edgar Street may be the wisest bit of business that Mick McCarthy and Graham Turner will conduct this season.

There does seem to be more and more people agreeing that we should cash in on Hennesey, which I completely agree with.
Hennessey is very good but Murray is better and no one would buy him, not for the money we’d get for Hennessey. Three quality keepers isn’t required, and Carl is probs happier to sit on the bench.

Whats the Jackanory about Blackstock???
£1.5M is whats been quoted and who would make way…. Keough?

the best keeper outside the prem definetly, but hes had 2 seasons out of nearly 7 2002/03 & 2006/07 so i think it wouldnt be a good idea to sell hennessey

Matt is a very good keeper in most areas. If he has a weakness, his kicking would be it – both from the hands and from the floor.
With luck, he’s been working on that whilst he’s been sidelined.
Come on Matt, let’s see in Wolves colours again soon!
