Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has finally broken his silence on his exile from the Wolves team.

Hennessey may be international class but he has missed the last eight games for his club, after being axed by boss Mick McCarthy and replaced by Carl Ikeme.

The Wales international hopes to get the chance to redeem himself on international duty away to Denmark in Copenhagen, but Hull’s Boaz Myhill may get the nod ahead of him.

Hennessey could be forgiven for thinking the world is conspiring against him, and now he has finally spoke on the matter.

He said simply: “I’m working hard in training. I’ve got my head down and I’m away with Wales now so I’ll try and get half a game or a full game and I’ll go back to Wolves and continue to work hard.

“Of course it is [frustrating]. Carl’s gone in and done well but I’ve just to keep working hard and hopefully my chance will come again and I’ll take it. Definitely, that’s what I’ve got to do now.”

“It’s going to be tough but I’ve enjoyed a good few days’ training and now I’ll see if [Wales boss] John Toshack picks me.”

Ikeme has seized his chance and shone, while McCarthy laughed off rumours of a rift between him and Hennessey. With Hennessey saying nothing, rumours spread.
