Davies elated after England call

Villa defender Curtis Davies is on cloud nine after he was a surprise inclusion in the England squad for Wednesday’s friendly in Germany.
The 23-year-old is in with a chance of winning his first full cap although he has been named in the squad before, a provisional choice in Fabio Capello’s first ever squad for a friendly against Switzerland.
The former England U21 cap was in reflective mood after hearing the news.
He said: “This just shows how quickly things can change, because a while back I wasn’t in the Villa team. It’s capped off an amazing few weeks for me.
“I got back into the team in Prague as captain, I have just had a baby girl and now I’m in the England squad. It’s fantastic.”
Club teammates Ashley Young, Gabby Agbonlahor and Gareth Barry join him in the squad.

The way he played against the Gunners was first class, a few more performances like that one and he could become an England regular.

#1 Agreed. Really glad he’s back from the achilles injury. Davies and Laursen were immense back there!
