But one Stourbridge landlord has come up with the ultimate prize – a two-bedroomed house and Range Rover Sport.

He is hoping for a quick sale to beat the credit crunch slump hitting the housing and car markets.

Antony Provan says a £50 ticket could change someone’s life on New Year’s Eve. The father-of-one is selling the house in Richardson Drive, Wollaston, which he is currently renting to a tenant, and the off-road vehicle worth around £47,000.

He decided on a more novel approach to putting the property on the market by raffling it off.

The lucky winner of the £140,000 house will be announced on New Year’s Eve. Entrepreneur Mr Provan is hoping to launch a website tonight with 5,000 tickets up for grabs. The 34-year-old said he came up with the idea of the property lottery in a bid to beat the credit crunch.

He said: “It’s quite novel and a bit of fun rather than the doom and gloom that’s around at the moment. Also with people not being able to get on the property ladder it’s an ideal solution.”

People have a one in 5,500 chance of winning. If the minimum amount is not raised through the raffle a cash prize will be handed out to the lucky winner. Log on to www.winahouseandcar.co.uk
