The 53-year-old was declared dead at the scene after suffering serious head injuries in an accident at Sigmacast Iron Ltd in Tipton.
Emergency services were called to the workplace in Upper Church Lane at around 5.15pm last night.
The man, who has not yet been named, is believed to have been driving the vehicle which toppled over on top of him.
Fire crews from Tipton and West Bromwich, including the major rescue unit, attended the scene, along with paramedics and police.
The death is now being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Chris Kowalik said: “Crews arrived to find a man who had suffered serious injuries and despite the best efforts of crews nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
West Midlands Police spokeswoman Catherine Preece said officers were called to Sigmacast just after 5.20pm following reports that a man had been injured.
“A 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene,” she said.
“He is not being named at this stage and the matter is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive,” she added.
