If you hang onto something long enough, it’s sure to make a come back and fashion is something we can all follow.

Walsall museum’s honorary Costume curator Sheila Shreeve is an expert of historic costume, coming from a family of dressmakers.

As part of a programme of talks exploring the history of dress from Tudor Times to present day, Sheila talks about clothing from 1900 to 1940.

This was a period which saw a revolution in women’s clothing, changing from petticoats and corsets to short hemlines and sportswear, along with introduction of cheaper fabrics such as nylon.

Sheila believes that fashion has changed considerably over the last century, but not always for the better.

She also offers a top tip for ladies.
