Fury as Walsall crash out

wd3127599walsall-v-luton.jpgTempers flared at the Banks’s Stadium last night after Walsall were dumped out of the Johnston’s Paint Trophy by Luton.

Saddlers’ Anthony Gerrard was involved in a exchange with angry fans as he left the field.

Manager Jimmy Mullen was also furious over the result and said the defeat was unacceptable.

Saddlers were comprehensively outplayed by the League Two basement side, who scored in the 89th minute through Rossi Jarvis’ close range strike.

Mullen did not mix his words after the defeat.

“It was disappointing, unacceptable,” he said, after a lengthy talk with his players after the game. “I spoke to them and told them the performance was not good enough. They know it was not acceptable. We were cold and second best all over the park.

“I looked at the performance levels and I counted seven or eight players well below the level of performance that you would expect to win a game. What chance have you got?

“I am very, very disappointed for the supporters who turned up,” said Mullen. “We never got started from the moment we kicked off and we got what we deserved.

“You can make excuses all night long but we were not good enough on the night. It was not good enough. End of story.

“Luton beat us on the night and caught us on the break from our set piece which was typical of the whole performance.”

What an absolute shambles. We are now reaping the rewards for taking on a manager who was a cheap option. This group of players are better than last seasons and should seriously be pushing for a play off place but you can tell that they have no respect for Mullen and who can blame them. Can you imagine Gerrard behaving like that under Richard Money. Lets get a proper football manager in before our season ends in mid November.

A little bit hasty there! Yeah it’s a defeat, we can’t win everygame – we aren’t good enough. As for Mullen, can we give him a full season in charge please because who else are we going to get anyway, and plus we not exactly in danger of being relegated, so what’s the problem….except Gerrard who is a disgrace?

It comes to something when the highlight of the game was the dance off between Kev and a 7ft Frankenstein. Utterly clueless, spineless and leaderless. Go back to selling cars Mullen because my team are going down quicker than the depreciation on one of your motors.

When mullen goes can you take Bonser with ya? Paying to watch one of the most unambitious teams in the league, ‘little walsall’, is about as interesting as sitting in a hospital waiting room. Wonder why the fans aren’t lining those deep pockets any longer, less than 2,000 last night, and it will get worse, a good manager left because of no a\mbition and has been replaced with a used car salesmen.

Bye Bye to you both, sooner the better

I do feel a little bit sorry for Jimmy Mullen,as he is a decent man.But his tactics and style of football will not bring any success to Walsall I fear. The squad is thin, yet he leaves out 3 quality players in Weston,Reich&Demontangac. The bigger problem is above Mr Mullen though and I,like many others will not bankroll this regime any longer.I know ultimately this could effect my beloved team, but what other means have I to demonstrate my fury at the running of OUR club.Thats OUR Club,Mr Bonser. Not YOUR Business.Perhaps when league gates drop to around 3000(and they will)Mr Bonser will step aside and we can all get behind the club again and move forward!!

Ormysaddler, if you think that, on the basis of last night, the second half on Saturday, Hartlepool and Peterborough that we’re not in danger of relegation, you’re deluded. It’s only the start that’s kept us clear so far, but we have, in case you hadn’t noticed, taken only 5 points from the last six games – real relegation form.

We have only 2 centre backs, 2 forwards, STILL NO RIGHT MIDFIELDER in the whole squad, a defender playing left midfield and a 19 year old forward playing right midfield. There is only one player who can actualy beat a man with either skill or pace which is ishmel who doesnt even get on the bench now (even after scoring a hatrick earlier on in the season). something is very wrong somewhere. Oh and i am not bonsers biggest fan but i can not think of anyyone in there right mind who would want to buy our club. Where is Reich, Bradley, Weston, Ishmel. Surely he has to make drastic changes soon

To Ormy I say.. we can win every game do you mean we can’t we any game.
To Rawnsley I say.. 3 quality players you mean 2 not 3. I have to agree with Mullen on this one. Having watched Demontangac many many time I have to say he is no quality player.
Outside all the above I’m all for given Mullen the boot, not a patch on old DD and never will be time to go in my book.

You can’t buy a Rolls Royce if you only have the money for a clapped out Mini.
Buy some quality players or better yet sack the Board
