Dr Who fans head to SVR
Saturday 1st November 2008, 11:27AM GMT.
Stars from the BBC’s Doctor Who series swapped the Tardis for trains when they materialised at Kidderminster’s Severn Valley Railway.Three actors who have appeared alongside tenth Doctor David Tennant in the hit show were special guests at the railway’s Sci-Fi and Steam Family Fun Day today.
Paul Marc Davies, who played the Futurekind Chief in the episode Utopia, Matthew Chambers, who was Hal Korwin in 42 and Fancois Pandolfo, who was Quintus in The Fires of Pompeii, met fans and signed autographs. The event helped cushion the blow for fans after David Tennant announced this week he would be leaving the Tardis following four specials in 2009.
Visitors were also invited to dress up as monsters and other creations from the show, which celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. The Sci-Fi and Steam Fun Day was arranged at Kidderminster as a boost to the station which is off the route for trains during maintenance work on the A449.
