Led Zep to tour ‘without Plant’

Rock legends Led Zeppelin are planning to tour and record but without frontman Robert Plant.Rock legends Led Zeppelin are reportedly planning to tour and record but without frontman Robert Plant.

Bassist John Paul Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought after Midlands legend Plant ruled himself out.

The last time the band performed together was at the O2 arena in London in December 2007.

Speculation has since been rife that the surviving members of the band, with Jason Bonham, son of their late drummer John Bonham, would go back on the road.

Jones, speaking at a guitar show in Exeter, Devon said: “We are trying out a couple of singers. It’s got to be right. There’s no point in just finding another Robert.”

Agree – like the Stones without either Mick or Keef or The Beatles without Lennon or McCartney

Whats the point of a tour without Plant???? Might as well call the band a different name.

On a different note – Plant should do a massive tour and invest the money in Wolves!

I remember seeing “planty” all over Stourbridge area in the 70′s, having seen him over here in the US singing on his own, best thing he can do is stay at the rest home he’s in now & drink his Bovril.

Agrre with the rest of the post’s it will not be led zepplin. I was lucky in the ballot and saw them at the O2 Jason was the only drummer they could have had any other drummer would have devalued that night.
Led Zep need to tour with Rob or do not tour at all.

I agree with the above….. why?

The O2 gig was done as a “Tribute” to there friend and boss of the record company who had faith in there ability in the late 60s.

The magic of Led Zeppelin was created by Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones as a group, the guys realised this when John died and retired the band.

If it is true that Planty doesn’t want to reunite I would still respect him for being the constant hard working professional Blackcountry Bloke.

Fair play if Page, JPJ and Jason want to write together, but they should leave the Zep name and start something new.

If they wrote some good stuff and toured under a different name then I think Zep fans would and should support them.

It wont work; queen without freddie, inxs without hutchence, stranglers without hugh. Its the front man that makes the band. Can you imagine Thin Lizzy without Lynott. The bands just become tribute bands of themselves.

Agree with JIWAL, come to OZ and party like it’s 1972. No Percy, no party. But it would still be great to see Page, JPJ and the younger Bonham. Maybe Paul Rodgers could do it. Maybe Rob’s voice has gone, many unanswered questions. Rob wants to come to the Byron Bay Blues festival with Alison. Maybe the timing could be arranged??
