Ten fun half-term ideas for older children:
A must for metal fans, this exciting workshop at Wolverhampton Art Gallery gives visitors the chance to help to create the first ever digital archive of Metal Music and its origins in the Black Country. The event takes place on October 25 from 10am to 4.30pm.
The third installment of this popular movie sees Troy and Gabriella enter their senior year and face the prospect of separation as they head off to different colleges. Showing at various times at Cineworld, Bentley Bridge Leisure Park.
As a special treat for 007 fans, there will be a day full of Bond-related treats at the Wulfrun Shopping Centre in Wolverhampton, on October 25 from 11am.
Eerie Evenings at Dudley Castle
This is a unique overnight event where guests can visit one of the most haunted castles in the country on October 31 and take part in a genuine ghost hunt. Tickets are expected to sell quickly so early booking is advisable. Ages 16 + (under 18′s must be accompanied by an adult).
The Prince of Wales Youth Theatre will be performing a blend of two well-loved musicals, Annie and Oliver Twist, at the Prince of Wales Centre in Cannock. The show takes place on October 30 and 31 at 7.30pm.
Bonfire, Firework and Laser Display
Come along and watch a spectacular display of fireworks at Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich, on November 1 from 5.30pm. For further details call 0845 358 2200.
The Sea Life Centre in Brindley Place, Birmingham, is a fantastic day out for all the family. The centre displays over 60 marine inhabitants from sharks and stingrays to turtles and jellyfish. Check the website for opening times.
Cineworld at Bentley Bridge is showcasing this new teen comedy about Shelley, a Playboy bunny who leaves the mansion and heads into the great unknown, landing a position as a sorority house mother along the way. Showing at 11.50am, 2.15pm, 4.35pm, 6.55pm and 9.15pm.
This opportunity to get outdoors and help park rangers with the conservation of Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham takes place on November 2 between 11am and 1.30pm.
Thinktank Museum of Science and Discovery
This event features hands-on exhibits in ten themed sections, where visitors can find out what it’s like to become a TV reporter, learn how to track tigers in the wild or take controls of a digger! Thinktank is open from Monday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm (last admission at 4pm).
