Five fun half-term ideas for young children:
From now until November 2 you can catch the magical illuminations at Walsall Arboretum. This year it’s packed with a host of childrens’ favourite characters from television including Bob the Builder, SpongeBob SquarePants, Peppa Pig and Angelina Ballerina.
Sea Legs Puppet Theatre tell Oscar Wilde’s enchanting story about a lonely giant who builds a wall to keep children out of his garden. The play is told using beautifully crafted puppets, storytelling and music, for ages 4 and over. Showing at 1.30pm on October 30 at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre.
Wolverhampton Art Gallery are holding a free workshop where children can make their own witch and wizard hats and listen to ghost stories. The workshop takes place on October 31 from 11am to 1pm.
The Birmingham Stage Company perform Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale about a young boy who is raised in the jungle by a family of wolves. Performances take place at various times between November 4 and 8. Suitable for ages 5 +.
This fun weekend, which takes place October 25 and 26 at Moseley Old Hall in Fordhouses, gives children the chance to see a giant pumpkin, watch a carving competition and take part in a whole variety of Halloween activities, from 12 noon to 4pm each day.
